Hey guys,

doing practice problems according to section and topic really helps me and was wondering what you recommend? I have the Kaplan books which have the end of the chapter questions, but they are pretty basic if you ask me. Also, are there books that give you passages by topic? I have some NextStep passage books, but those are random timed sections, not really my passage.

If you want passage practice, The Princeton Review has a "Science Workbook" that isn't too bad. There are also passages on Khan Academy that are free to use.

This link might be helpful. Several people gave some pretty good suggestions how to change your tact after a bad first run.

The end of the chapter questions are just for a content check, so don't weight those very highly. So I would consider the Kaplan books a source to get most of your content review then use other sources for full practice. The online practice exams for Kaplan were pretty decent as well as AAMC content, but you usually want to hold off on the AAMC until it gets closer to the exam.

Kaplan and Princeton suck. Way too much content and way too many details/minutiae. Examkrackers is much more to the point. The khan academy MCAT section is great too, with good practice questions. Supplement with official practice exams, they'll give you the best indication of how well you're doing.

Kaplan books do overload you with content that you naturally should not really take much notes on, but if you need a big refresher, the spoon fed content may be helpful for you at the beginning. That is something to consider, then the rest is just practicing the content and utilizing practice exams. Make sure you take the time to go through answers you got wrong and why you got certain ones right!
