i am a medical doctor with MBBS degree ..I have a strong inclination towards research..but I am not sure whether I will be entering residency as a clinician or will be working in a INGO/NGO in a developing country later on.......which concentration would be safe to decide..which can help me secure a residency or incase if I happen to work in a non govt setting in a developing country which conc would be better. ...epid?Health policy and mangement ? or a epid/biostats 2 year M.H.S or 2 yrs MPH ?
Guys plz help me make a choice....I won't mind applying for a 2 yrs program Vs a 11 month program if the chances of acceptance are high

thanx stories...i was leaning towards epi as i thought it would give me a solid foundation if want to do DrPH or PhD later on....or to go for residency(I am not certain abt this as I might or might not be accepted for residency being an IMG and I haven't yet appeared for usmle etc)...at this time i am not sure what to do later on...what do u think about mph with epi ?..in keeping with my intentions...

You can also do a PhD in any of those areas mentioned. DrPH is more multidisciplinary, so one area doesn't really apply here. None of those degrees would probably be all the applicable to your residency since they're not clinical degrees.

Epi is good if you want to study disease etiology. I don't know if that's what your intentions are, though.

I got my MPH in public health practice. It was practical and relevant for my needs. If you plan to pursue a career in biostats or epi, then I would suggest that you focus on those.

Another exciting area is public health informatics. If I had to do my MPH again, I'd look for a program that is very strong in health information technology. That's the future of health care.
