Does anyone know how to determine which programs need a chair's letter? In particular for transitional years. Is there anywhere online/ERAS which provides this information?

Just submit your medicine chairs letter to all your prelim programs. What's the harm?

Anybody know where on ERAS it shows individual program requirements? (i.e.-Do they require 3 vs. 4 LOR, etc.)

Nowhere. Only on the individual programs websites.

I truly don't see what is so hard about this. If you have 4 LOR, submit 4 LOR to all programs. There's not a single program in any field that requires 3 LOR max that I'm aware of. If you don't have 4 LOR, submit the three you do have and go get a fourth one, because there are some programs that require four minimum.

If you are applying medicine, send the chairs letter to every program.

If you're applying EM, send your two SLOR to every program. If you don't have two SLOR, go get a second one.

For other fields, find out what the norm is. Then just do that.
