Which two DO schools would you apply to?

I was wondering if you could apply to any two DO schools just in case the MD route did not take place, which two would you pick.

I'd probably take a year off, improve my application and reapply to MD schools, if it didn't work out. I don't believe it is a good idea to make that sort of compromise, if at all possible. DO schools shouldn't be something you'd have to settle for, especially if you don't care for OMM. If MD is what you want, then go there.

For me, it was no big deal. DO schools were a better fit.

to parrot what has already been stated; Do not apply to DO if you are not interested in OMM.
i say this with more emphasis after i talked to a DO neurologist who said she had a very hard time in med school because of all the extra time and training she had to put in ON TOP of the existing medical curriculum that is found in MD schools.
so, i wouldnt assume that DO is an easy way to become a physician...in fact, it is more likely than not that it is a more difficult curriculum based on the extra training.

PCOM and UMDNJ. However, if I were a resident of the state of Ohio, Texas, or Oklahoma, I would also very strongly consider the DO schools in those states, namely OUCOM, TCOM, and OSUCOM, respectively.

NSU. The dean rocks. The weather is awesome. The facilities are nice. The Miami Dolphins practice on campus....there actually is a campus, which is something you apparently don't find at every DO school. The students I met were pretty cool as were the other interviewees in my group. Students spoke highly of the faculty. Local area is pretty nice with exception of traffic. Local fishing is good. Close to the beach.

Second choice? Oh... I didn't apply anywhere else yet so I can't help you there. Oops.

1. MSUCOM -- can get a great education here and the state of Michigan is DO friendly
2. PCOM -- have heard great things.

But as others have mentioned, if your heart is set on MD, for whatever reason, don't settle for something you won't be happy with. Reapply and give it another shot.

Im applying for medical school this summer, sorry if I confused some of you guys I was looking for back up plans just in case I didn't get in medical school so i figured i should apply to 10 MD schools and two DO schools just in case although that means more money and a separate application. I'm an african american male with a high gpa who will be taking the mcat in may.

it seems to me you are using the DO route as a compromise if you do not get into MD school. I think you should do some research on DO and make sure you like the philosophy behind DO before you use them as a back up.

Do not compromise as noted above. You shouldn't have to settle for a DO school, you should want to go to a DO school...and only then apply
