Does family typically attend white coat ceremony or is it a casual event with just the students? I'll be attending SCCO, but I'm curious about other schools too. Thanks!

At ICO some family came, but it was not that big of an event. The only people that really came were those who live in Chicago. It is not something people should get hotels for.

the same at UHCO... but it's not until you start clinic second year and you've made it through your clinical competency exam

At UMSL they have the white coat ceremony at the end of your second year after you've passed clinical proficiencies by performing a full examination on a first year student. The White ceremony is a formal event here attended by friends and family, and some student do not pass and must take the proficiency again.
