Hey guys,

I didn't wanna jack quantummech's thread so I just started my own. I've never gotten fitted for a suit before so I'm not familiar with how the sizing works. I'm about 160 lbs, 5'10'', and i have a medium build. I also enjoy walks on the beach, candle-lit dinners, and i love cats and dogs.

As for the available sizes for men, there's:
XS(30 - 32) S(34 - 36) M(38 - 40) L(42 - 44) XL(46 - 48) 2XL(50 - 52) 3XL(54 - 56)

If I have to guess, I'd say I'm a medium but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Thanks in advance!

Accurate evaluations can only come after a personal photo has been posted.

I'm 5'10", 170lbs, athletic build (runner) and wear a 42.

If you can't try on some coats, try this out instead (instructions on sizing from S&K) . . .

"Your jacket size is your Chest measurement, taken while wearing a shirt. Place the measuring tape up under your arms and over your shoulder blades in back and chest in front. Breathe normally and leave a finger between the tape and chest. That measurement, rounded up to the nearest inch, is your jacket size."

I would go with a large, just because when it comes to white coats, too big is always better than too small. It's not much of a big deal 1st and 2nd year, but by MSIII your pockets will be so bulging with books and equipment that you'll appreciate a little extra room (and you won't be able to move in it if it's too small).

thanks for the advice!

I'm about your size, 5'10", 165--athletic build--I went with a 42 for a white coat. That's the size I wore for the past 2.5yrs for volunteering and it seems to fit well.

i am a girl but i had to order a guys coat since, according to the school, i am extremely tall (6'). i swam for 8 years and played basketball for 12, so i am pretty athletic. not giving you my weight cuz i am a girl and by law i don't have to. my uncle sold suites for about 20 years. he said i was a 42 long. normally though i wear a medium shirt (i mention this just to say that i am not barrel chested or anything like that). i doubt that was helpful at all, but i tried.

Well, to get your size we also need to know your astrological sign.

Ya know, you can always go to a local department store and try on a few suit coats. See what fits you, then use that to order your white coat.
