He sucks? Look at your GPA!!!!!

People keep saying give the boy a break?
He came here and started this thread obviously in a competitive attempt to look better judging by how he phrased it.

Cocky as hell, L-O-L, I can't wait to hear how your cycle goes.
Dude you're funny, good luck to you. I can't wait to see your tears next summer.

edit: I just noticed you were going to take a Kaplan course and "study like crazy". Congrats on the maximum 18AA you will most likely get. Kaplan doesn't save the world, boy. A guy I know had a lowish 3.0 GPA, and took Kaplan. He got a 17, and was rejected 2 application cycles. Now hes giving it up. Kaplan isn't all that.

The ONLY reason I have a low GPA is because i was diagnosed last year with Crohn's disease and missed a lot of school A** hole. I have had straight A's every semester before that. Not to mention that english is my second language which I barely picked up a couple of years ago. And So what if I don't get in this cycle?!? I was accepted in to SA and Houston 3+4 Program, but I decided to apply out of state for the heck of it...and I'm only in my second year with a lot more credits than you, i dont need your symapthy. My life is made regardless of becoming a dentist or not, even though I know I will be, a better one than you in fact.

I take my DAT first week of July, I'm actually doing all of this REALLY early because I have a crappy GPA (2.9) but i'm graduating in 3 years instead of 4 and I have an awesome dental background which began my sophomore year in high school. I'm going to study like crazy for the DAT, though. I will be attending the Kaplan course in june for 5 weeks.
Applied to: NYU, BU, Tufts, Howard.

I graduated in 3 years too...but after going on numerous interviews, my age or the amount of college I had been through was never an impedence or an advantage. So just because u and I think we are special, colleges dont give a damn. Its better to stay the extra year do something u like and raise ur GPA. Applying yearly helps when u are average or above average. With bad crediantials your application just gets tossed to the side faster. Plus taking ur DATs soo late probably doesnt help u out anyway, schools care alot about the DATs. If ur first mailout goes before ur DAT scores get there than u are still no better off.

In conclusion, u best tear up the DATs. Study ur butt off and I personally liked KAPLAN. Do all of ur assigned work and use ALL the online resources too. You must get used to reading and looking at the computer screen.

goodluck!

Ok, so I e-submitted, payed and sent out all my LOR's on May 16 around noon. I thought I did this pretty quickly and efficiently, and I was wondering if anyone had done it any sooner. Any Competition out there?

AADSAS doesn't process applications until June 1st. Even if you submit your application earlier.

But good for you for being ahead of the game!!

Submitted my application on May 16 around 3, however I had my trascripts next day delivered. They arrived at AADSAS 9:00 am the next morning. So maybe I jump ahead of you in line...jk. Good job on getting your app in so early.

How do you know they got your transcripts? Does it say on your status that they got them? I am asking because I sent mine on Wednesday with express mail, which is overnight, and when I checked the status it still showed not received.

Oh great, snoopy sounds like some of the cutt-throat dental students my friend has talked to me about.

You know,...the type of students who sabotage your work and try to get all the attention from the instructor and think they're better than you because they've invented a dental vibrator or something of that sort. 🙄

It still shows "Not received" but I have a tracking number that indicates the item was received and signed for. As to when it will actually show on AADSAS it might take a week or so.

please leave america 😍

I am not American, and so glad I am not for many reasons...plus everyone knows people from other countries are way too smart..no wonder they join an elite group of students by going into Medical or Dental school.

and we are not leaving America because we take advantage of the great things U.S has to offer...SOME Americans are just too stupid, dumb or whatever it is to realize it... It all comes down they will be working for my kids ... 😀

Actually, you don't defer admittance to the 3+4 program, whether its to Baylor, SA, or Houston, they let you apply to out of state schools, you are not committed to them...its not probation, jerk. And I'm pretty sure i'm going at a faster rate of receiving credits...hence, you suck more than i do (if i do at all)...the only reason i started this thread was to find out who applied early...not to brag. But people like you get jealous and try to jump on every move that people like me try to make.

Yea, you do suck. Your GPA proves it. Good luck getting in any school you apply to.

How would you know if you're going at a faster rate with your credits? I graduated undergrad on time, and got in dental school, thanks.

It doesn't matter if you are moving at any faster rate, you will still never enter dental school. Just remember, the faster you knock that degree out, the faster you will be flippin them burgers with your SOL GPA.

I've been accepted to harvard after a ph.d. in nuclear physics, from MIT. My application was sent in november of 2005 (seems kinda late huh!)! nonetheless, though I understand your true intentions, be careful when "competing" with others, there's always someone with better qualifications than you! good luck!

Accepted you say? http://dental.uthscsa.edu/admissions/dds_dual.html

The student is ready to enroll in Dental School when he/she has...

• Completed predental requirements and the undergraduate institution’s special three-year curriculum;
• Earned a grade of “C” or better in prerequisite courses and maintained a cumulative GPA and Science GPA of 3.4 in undergraduate work;• Scored at least an 18 on the Academic Average of the DAT;
• Established a record of ethical behavior during college years and received a positive recommendation from the predental advisory committee of the undergraduate school.

Also, since when did Houston EVEN HAVE the 3+4 plan? http://www.db.uth.tmc.edu/studentaffairs/

Not shown anywhere on the webpage.

Once again, I BET you got accepted to both of these programs, one of which doesn't even exist. LOL

::EDIT:: Looking back in your previous posts you say that you have a 2.91 GPA and you also said "I just finished my second year of college but I have 100 credits to my name".

No way in hell in the last year of college you can pull from a 2.91 to the minimum 3.4 GPA requirement to apply for the 3+4, probably not with even 2+ years of work with the grade trend you show.

You've also stated that "I have had straight A's every semester before that."

So lets see, you've had 2 years of school so.... you had 2 semesters of straight a's, then you did bad one "YEAR" because of a disease. So you did as equally bad as you did good, leaving you with a 2.91....... to which you somehow applied and got accepted to San Antonio 3+4 with their distinct GPA requirements one entire year before you finished your 3rd year. Read the rules again, you get accepted once you have COMPLETED THE undergraduate institution’s special three-year curriculum.

YES....ACCEPTED!!!

Dear Chris,

It was indeed a pleasure to meet with you on my recent visit to UT Pan American. I very much enjoyed visiting with you regarding your aspirations for a career in the dental profession.

The stated purpose of The Dental Early Acceptance Program is that it will offer highly qualified students with an interest in dentistry, and who through personal experiences have demonstrated the ability to overcome adverse or disadvantaged circumstances, the opportunity to be considered for and to receive conditional early acceptance to the UTDB. The Admissions Committee can also give favorable consideration upon demonstrated activities of an individual whose shows a strong propensity to serve those communities. In order to be considered, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

It is my sincere pleasure to inform you that the Admissions Committee of the University of Texas Dental Branch has acted favorably upon your application to the UTDB/UTPA Dental School Early Acceptance Program. As you are aware, participation in this program carries with it an offer of conditional acceptance to dental school, which will become final upon your completion of degree requirements at the designated achievement level from The University of Texas Pan American and an acceptable score on the Dental Admissions Test.

Your interest in the Dental Branch is valued and appreciated. I wish you the very best in your professional pursuits and look forward to seeing you on my future visits to the UTPA campus. Please let me know if I may be of any assistance. A letter of offer will follow soon, but I wanted to let you know as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

H. P. Pierpont, DDS

Associate Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs

You're the ******* look at your grades. You won't be entering any classes in Texas. Keep your head up though I know it can be hard trying to get in 🙁 🙁

Wheres the San Antonio that you were accepted to? oh yea, they have real requirements.

You won't even keep that 3.0 by the time you finish 3 years.

actually i'm already in. since our grades go in after the second year not the third. i'm taking 3 classes this summer (all easy A's). and i accepted Houston over SA after my first sem. of college because of location + family + and the students in houston were way more ameable than the ones in SA. just a little advice for those in TX.

maybe i should i have posted this in a new topic, but about this whole applying early thing i feel like it only gives you an advantage in being granted an interview, am i wrong ot assume all ppl interviewed before nov 15th are in teh same boat b/c they dont notify ppl of acceptances until dec. 1st...if say you interview in september does that mean they will decide on your app before interviewing others in oct or nov?

Congrats on finishing your app so quickly. However, since you won't be taking your DAT until July, the schools won't consider your app complete until then, so I don't see the point of applying in May.

Sounds like you may have some good understanding of dentistry through your DA experience. But I wouldn't get so cocky just yet..you have yet to take the DAT and in all honesty, your GPA's not all that competitive. Others are right in that those who finished in 4 yrs, but have stronger GPAs will definitely be ahead of you.

I'm actually receiving my BS in 3 years (i have 100 credits to my name)...I'm taking 3 summer classes which are easy A's so my GPA is going to be like a 3.05 by the end of summer, also i have 360 hrs of shadowing, invented my own orthodontic istrument, placed 1st in the Nation in a dental assisting competition....and you say i'm MEDIOCRE!?!?!?!? oh please.
