I went to the second look at my state medical school. I started talking to the director of family medicine during lunch. He told me that he interviewed a student who was already holding several acceptances at other (probably better) schools. However, the doctor felt that the student had no personality, eg: he lived at home during undergrad, held no jobs whatsoever, and overall, he thought he hasn't "matured" yet, haven't been exposed to the world enough. So he put a big rejection stamp on the guy's application, even though he was overqualified considering the state medschool's avg MCAT and GPA. So stat isn't everything. Also, the director also looked down on BA/MD people, he thought they haven't been challenged enough, which I thought was funny. Because I was always envious of people who get guaranteed admission and no stress in undergrad, and skipped wasting $$ on MCAT and applications. life is soooooo ironic!
