Please post your name and email address (if willing) if you have been accepted to Georgetown's Premedical Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program. We can share information, of which I have a good deal.

I'll go first.

Look forward to hearing from all the others!

It's really not in my nature to be mysterious but I really like the anonymity that comes with posting on message boards. However, I wouldn't mind sharing any info I have and taking part in discussions with everyone now that we finally have our own threads with interest here on SDN

May I just ask why you guys chose to attend Georgetown over the other programs? II'm torn as to which program to attend b/c although Georgetown has incredible resources, this program didnt sound as supported as some of the others- for example, have you read or heard about any MCAT review?
I'm very interested in the program and was hoping for your feedback on why you chose to attend!
Thanks!

I went through the PBPM program last year and will be an M1 this fall. PM me if you've got questions. 🙂 Or just ask here, I guess, either way.

Guys,
I went through the postbacc at Gtown and here are my thoughts. It's really not much of a program... more like you just happen to be taking classes at Georgetown. The support is rather weak, and sometimes you feel a little bit like the bastard child of the program. Not that it doesn't get the job done. I've been accepted at some really really good medical schools (UVa, Columbia), so it gets the job done, but to call it a "program" isn't really accurate, and frankly the advising is rather weak. Just my 2 cents. Still, if you do go, be psyched. The profs are pretty good and the campus is really pretty.

Aside from its proximity to home, I liked the fact that I was taking regular classes with regular undergrads. The grades were therefore representative of how I did compared to the rest of Georgetown University, and not just a smaller group of post-bacc students. I also liked the availability of the school's pre-med committee, since their general assessment of you and your LORs is again going to be compared against the rest of the undergrad population.

There isn't a lot of formal advising, but I got plenty of good advice from both PBPM-specific and regular university administrators. Frankly, I was drawn to the independent nature of the program, and I felt that the people I knew in it all got what they put into it.
