Hey man, don't accept any school. Put the work in and go to a school you can afford and an academic environment that you will thrive in. It sickens me when people become so infatuated with PT that they forget that these student loans, St. Augustine suggested 57k of loans PER YEAR, will haunt you for a long time. These payments are upwards of 12-1500 a month for 10,20, or 30 years. Insane, unless you have some kind of inheritance or generous, rich family members 🙂

Yea I know man I wouldn't take just any school unless it was significantly cheaper than most. In Louisiana we have 2 really good schools. They are hard as **** to get into, so I've always left out of state options open. I know the difference between in state and out of state is huge , but there is no guarantee the exact session I will get in and I can't wait 5 years. Each year not in pt school is another year without potentially 60-70 k sAlary. Oh and my gf will inherit 150k when her father dies but we aren't hoping for that lol. I told her she can't pay a penny of my loans. But that 150 k is Brazilian money I or maybe USD I forgot lol. She's a Brazilian pt looking for work here. Hope she gets a job!

@WSJ Sorry you are having such a hard time getting in to schools.If you do not get in this cycle and still want PT would you consider retaking some classes to raise your GPA and consider establishing residency in another state to offer you both more options and more affordable tuition .......Best of luck
Depends on the state, one year if you move to Fl..but, you must get all of the documentation when you arrive.

Hey guys just so you know before you jump into something you're not expecting, the state of Florida recently disbanded the in state residency policy for tuition after one year of attendance. The rule is now that you must be living in Florida for a year BEFORE you start school.

Damn that is tempting. Wonder if I could move there in November and slide by getting in state tuition for 2013. Probably not. I've heard about that for when I was applying to unf. I'd love to do that because fgcu is damn cheap, in comparison to what I will pay if I get called of USA wait list.

Does anyone have an update on this school? The last I heard from them was on April 12 when they asked me if I was still interested in the program. I had to respond by the 18th which I did and have not heard anything since. They said I was qualified, but wanted to make sure that they only send the last acceptance letters to those who were still interested. Anyone else come across this same type of situation?

Hey guys! So I'm not going to FGCU this year... but I would really like to next year! Unfortunately, I have some GPA problems 🙁 I'm above all of the minimums, but I only have a 3.1 cGPA, 3.4 pre-GPA, 3.44 upper div, 3.3 last 60, etc. Does anyone who got accepted have a low cGPA?? Just looking for some hope... I contacted admissions and they told me I should try for great GRE scores. I have a 490V and 630Q from a first attempt, but I didn't study at all and I think I can get up to a 1200+ at least. ANY input helps!!!

I will most likely be attending FGCU this year. I am second on their waitlist. Where is everyone planning on living? I don't see too many off campus housing options by the school. 🙂
Are you from Indiana? Anyways..retake that gre and I think youll be peachy.
I hope you get in! I have no clue where to live at, have you been to the area before? Any recommendations?

Definitely not from the area, so no recommendations. I'm not interested in living on campus either. As of right now, looking for a 1/1 unless I can find a responsible grad student or 2 whose interested in splitting rent. Send me a pm if you have housing suggestions. Also, congrats on your acceptance 🙂
It is so hard to know but I do think it is possible. FGCU has a small cohort but I do think it is possible that someone that accepted there might be offered a spot on a waitlist at a different school then opt out of there........Have you been accepted anywhere else or are you on any other waiting lists.? I turned down FGCU but that was quite a few months ago . Good luck

Not to be a downer, but at this point in time, the class is full. I would call on a weekly basis and check. Unless someone decides to withdraw their decision to attend FGCU, it is very unlikely.
Hi, I'm just curious how did you already know you were second on the wait-list?... I just received an e-mail yesterday offering me a spot on the wait-list

Back in May, I sent an email asking for an update on the status of DPT admissions since I hadn't heard anything for a while. I was informed that I was 2nd on the list of applicants to receive offers.
