School exams generally end during May, so wouldn't it be a good idea if there were more MCAT dates in June, July, Aug? (ie. during the summer)

Its strange that there are 4 test dates in May (month when exams are usually held) and only 1 test date in June....

anyone know the reasoning behind this? probably something to do with rolling admissions and advantage of writing the test early....but still....4 in May and only 1 in June?

The applicants with the best chance at admission apply with a complete (meaning scored MCAT in hand) application as soon as AMCAS opens which happens in early June. The MCAT takes a month to score so if your application isn't complete by June your odds of being accepted drop drastically and you're essentially taking the MCAT for the next year's application cycle if you sit it anytime after May. The longer you wait to take it the worse your odds get at being accepted for that particular cycle.

MD schools will accept an MCAT score from a September sitting but unless you blow the doors off of it you probably won't get into a school.

I see...ok that makes sense

But its still a little weird that there's only 1 date in June (its actually a double time so maybe it could be considered as a 2 dates)

I think that might be becuase comparatively few students would write it in June and that might throw off the statistical curve....
