I paid $150 for a black suit, and $50 to get the top tailored. I am wearing a light neutral pink shirt. I look professional as hell, I know the interviewers are not supposed to judge you based on what you are wearing. We are supposed to dress nice to show professionalism and so that we all look the same so they can judge us on our answers, not what we wear. I have two interviews coming up SOON, a black suit is fine right?! Thanks

I don't think anyone would judge you, but black suits are for funerals and CEOs. Navy or charcoal are the two colors that are supposed to be worn to an interview, medical school related or not.

I've been on three interview so far; lots of people (including me) wore black suits. I was accepted so I'm pretty sure the black suit didn't factor in too much haha. I definitely get what people are saying about black suits being better suited (lololol) for other occasions, but no one will dock you for it, especially if you look professional and well-groomed. Good call on the pink blouse though, to lighten it up a bit.

Because it makes you look like you're going to a funeral.

Since you already bought the thing, don't look back. Anyway, you'll have something to wear when Uncle Heshie dies.

Thank you all, I think the pink shirt will help but I see what you're saying. No turning back now, they're way too expensive to go splurge on another!

I wore black and saw most people with black on both my interviews as well. Turns out those who stood out where people wearing vests under their suit coats or wearing suits with light colors (gray, for instance).

I really don't think it matters interview wise and a black suit kills 2 birds with one stone so why not, right?

Honestly, I don't think it really matters as much as everyone says. There we many people in my interview group with black suits, brown shoes, etc and many got accepted. If you look nice and present yourself nice, it won't make a difference.

It's not gonna harm you in your interview, but black suits are just generally not fashionable outside of funerals and high school dances. Your money would've been much better spent on a navy or charcoal suit. But, it's too late now and I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't think it will matter much but charcoal and navy, as others have mentioned, are more appropriate for interviewing. Hell, I probably looked like quite the oddball at one of my interviews. I didn't have time to get a suit but I still ended up getting the acceptance call.

Just use your Neuralizer on them if they start looking at you funny, after flashing the neuralizer, tell them that you have the perfect stats and should be accepted right away. Win.

I saw a big group of black suited invitees in TCOM's library on a tour not too long ago.

Black suits are fine as long as you have a not totally drab shirt/tie combo . Other option is black suit with a pattern in the threading or a nice looking material just nothing too flashy

Thanks everyone. I am a girl so don't need to worry about a tie lol. Pink shirt with blonde curled hair, bangs clipped out of my face. I think it should be good! 🙂

I wish I was on the admission panel now! I'm jealous of what @Goro has to deal with everyday

The logic behind suit choice is fit in (black suit) or stand out (everything else). In my experience, most students will end up wearing a black suit to med school interviews. As long as you look professional and feel comfortable, then it doesn't really matter. But no matter what color the suit is it should fit nicely and be wrinkle/hair free day of.

Interview is pretty much buying your grave for the next 4 years, so it's kind of fitting. jk

I do think black looks tacky because of the funeral thing. That said, I saw a lot of people wearing black suits at my interview. Many of them are my classmates now.

You can definitely wear black. In the lawyer world my friend was taught, all hair is pulled back or behind a headband but that's strict and old fashioned. You can definitely wear it down just make sure you have it out of your face and if you are curling it take it easy on the size of your curl 🙂

Also, makeup... Natural and daytime
