Why do pharm schools have a speech requirement?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think in theory it's a great idea. Making sure you're confident and capable of communicating in a various situations (which being able to give a speech in front of classmates pretty much engenders). Plus with so many first-generation american students entering pharmacy it's a good fail-safe mechanism.

I do think that it's a silly pre-req if you've already got your BS though. It seems to me that you've developed that skill by graduation. I see it as being more of a necessity for students who are applying w/out a degree to make sure they're prepared.
