Why does Medicare pay anesthesiologists so poorly?

Just wondering the history here because anesthesiology seems to be singled out and patients aren't getting any younger.

CMS pays everyone crappy, it’s definitely bad for us but discuss with your EM colleagues it’s even worse for them for reimbursement. There’s a reason so many EDs are moving towards PA/NP with MD “oversight”

Management companies were invented by EM, so it's expected they would do anything to maximize profits. Even if Medicare paid 10x more.
