Hi guys, I am applying to both Midwestern IL and AZ, and am working on the supplemental application. I'm having trouble finding information that I can use to answer the question of why I want to attend Midwestern. Where can I find information that specifically states things about Midwestern that can/are different than the other dental schools. I know I love AZ weather, so there's that. I grew up in the Chicago area, so theres that as well, but I feel like I need something with more substance.

You probably don't want to hear this, but I don't really want to give you specific answers....because they should be specific to each person.

If you haven't, sit and list all of your schools and some things about them. When you see simple stats side-by-side, it's easy to see why one school might be more attractive to you than the other. It might get you thinking about how those differences might have an impact on your experience there. (Ex. 240 seats vs. 110 seats; 1st year boards vs. 2nd year boards).

You could also do a little searching around here. Like maybe the school A vs. school B threads where you'll get both sides of the story.

Mentioning location is fine as long as it's not the only reason.

Thanks for the advice. Do you mind giving me some examples of differences that I should be looking for? Why is 1st year boards vs 2nd year boards important?

I'm going to go ahead and PM you shortly.

I hope this doesn't come off rude, because that is not my intention, but you need to do more research instead of just asking others here to give you information to write your essays about. Midwestern's website has a plethora of information about their program if you're willing to sift through it (which really isn't that hard). Even the forum here has tons of threads about Midwestern, comparing it against other schools and talking about its unique features. If you can't think of reasons why you want to attend Midwestern, or don't want to put in the time to find reasons why, then perhaps you shouldn't apply there.

No offense taken, but I never asked for information to be just handed over to me. I asked for where I can find resources and suggestions on what kind of information I should be looking for.

I just thought their website and this forum would've been common-sense ideas that had come to you already, which would have given you plenty of information. It did seem like you were fishing for others' answers; sorry if I was wrong.

Definetly 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Shouldn't YOU have some idea why you're applying to a certain school? Obviously there must have been a reason for you to decide to pay AADSAS to send that school the application.

Obviously the website of that school would be a great place to find out why you might (or might not!) want to go to a certain school.
Not from the opinions/ideas from others.

Just my 2 cents.

I applied last year (before the IL campus opened) and was a bit stumped as it was to be their first incoming class. I did some research on their website and related their school's philosophies and goals to mine, and was invited to an interview. As with any supplemental, it's a great (additional) opportunity to show that you've done your hw, and can fit into their program, so take advantage of it.

offers clinical exposure from the first year
observe different techniques associated with different dental procedures from the beginning
incorporates new tech to make diagnosis
Opportunity for dental students to volunteer

Google their website you will find a lot crap
