Do y'all think having a master's in biology will help when applying for residency programs, generally? I'm curious as to if it's worth not having a summer break before I start dental school in late July.

No. Residency will be based on your performance in Dental School. I don't believe a Masters prior to matriculation will have any impact. Will it hurt? No. Will it be a deciding factor if all else is equal with you and another person? Maybe.

A masters in Public Health, Bioethics, or Upper Level Science Education may help. Others not so much. The previous mentioned have relevance to the practice, policy, and implementation of of healthcare delivery.

Thank you all. It's a thesis based master's in biology and if continued I would take a 5 week summer course (June-first week of July) and finish/defend my thesis before my first day of dental school, which is July 25.
