I went to Penn State University

Cumulative GPA: 3.31
Pre-Req GPA: 3.1-3.3 (depends on school and which pre-reqs they require)
Science GPA (according to PTCAS): 2.95

175 hours volunteering in 4 different places
-private practice outpatient (two different ones), hospital based outpatient, hospital based inpatient

GRE Scores
470 Verbal
700 Quantitative
=1170 total
4.0 Analytical Writing

I'm not applying to the best schools by any means. Still very worried though. Any insight would be helpful.

I dont mean to be rude but, we arent admissions, so I say just apply and see what happens 🙂

Im pretty much in the same boat as you and worried about not getting in as well. But you dont know unless you apply!

Your stats look good but retaking courses to get a better grade or retaking GRE never hurts!

Jib,

Always good to see a fellow Nittany Lion on the forums! I would say that you stand a decent chance at getting into PT school. While your GPA may not be as high as others, you have a decent GRE score and obs. hours. If you really want to find out how competitive you are, then I would contact the admissions office at each school you plan to apply to. Best to go into each situation with you eyes wide open! Good luck!👍

Thanks for the help. If someone with similar credentials can tell me if and where they got in i would appreciate it. Thanks.

I currently have a GPA 3.98 in both science in math so far. I will have about 175-200 hours of observations and really good letters of recommendation. My GRE scores are terrible. I got a 850. I am also worried about applying.

Well, since your science GPA is under 3.0 that's a little iffy, but you have a really great GRE score and as long as you bring your personality, then you should be able to find a school to accept you! 🙂

To the OP: I had exact same cumulative GPA, just a little higher Pre Req GPA (3.1), and had a 680 Q and 550 V on the GRE. I was accepted into 3 programs and interviewed at 5. Since our GPA's are not very competitive, here are a few things that helped me get in. First, I took a lot of time researching schools that had similar average GPA of accepted students. I also had a PT that I worked for tell me to apply to 13 schools (I actually applied to 10) to give yourself more odds. Also, make sure your observation experience is very diverse. Schools will eat that up. Then you just have interview well...

CSUramFAN: Where were your acceptances and interviews? If you don't mind me asking. I have similar stats and I'm trying to decide where to apply.

what schools did you apply to jib?? im applying to Pitt, Duquense, Chatham, Arcadia, Drexel, and Scranton (at least these are the schools from PA)
