If you are going for an academic type of position at a place that finds research favorable (which is the majority of residency positions anyways), and you have continued to do research in medical school, then, yes. A longstanding history of producing quality, published research is favorable. I wouldn't expect it to add 30 points to your step or anything, but it is definitely a plus.
