Will the new MCAT requirements make it impossible to major in a nonscience?

I was reading about the new MCAT yesterday and all of the new required courses like biochem etc. I read a quote from 1 professor where he said exactly that, that they are basically pushing away non science majors from applying to medical school and that one would have to major in a science. How true is this?

Just take a biochem class before the mcat.

Or just use the updated mcat prep material (which will surely accommodate).

Professor = wrong.

i herd medicine is based on teh sciences. u here otherwiez?

The test isn't designed to push away non-science majors, and you can easily still major in a non-science if you just take the new courses

HOWEVER...I think we will find the percentage of applicants from the non-sciences decreases as the new mcat is administered, just based on the false perception that you need to now major in bio or something

They require a year of biology, 2.5 years of chemistry, a year of physics, and math.

If you think this means they are pushing to increase the number of vaudeville theatre majors, I have bad news for you....

:laugh:

BTW guys, is the sky blue?

Oh noes! I was dead seat on double majoring in leisure studies and surfboarding.😡

I just read an article about it on the AAMC website and it said that if the recommendations for revisions where approved they would not be implemented until the 2015 MCAT...so if you are taking it before then i would worry too much about it.

you can read it here...
