Will transferring to a better college hurt my medical school chances?

Dude. Thank you so much. I mean all the advice from other ppl was great and well informed, but you really seem to understand this specific situation. This makes a lot of sense. I'll have to deeply think about this now.
Obviously you know nothing about me and all, but if I kill it at VCU (3.85+ GPA, 520 MCAT), do you think I could make NYU (my dream med school), or do they care enough about prestige of UG to make this a futile dream?

No probs, Shaggy. Pretty much what the very wise WedgeDawg said above. A 3.85GPA/520 MCAT from anywhere can get you pretty much anywhere. Just do what makes you happy, and not (I'm more than likely making a safe assumption here) your parents happy. Even Harvard Med takes students from like 70 different universities, so don't get too held up by your undergraduate name recognition. Good luck, homeslice.

I wouldn't transfer. A 3.8+ at any school coupled with a solid MCAT + ECs is better than risking UVA's rigor for pedigree.

I know this is from 2015 but wow this is very true and it makes me not want to go to UVA anymore (and that's all I've been after for the last 2 years.) Every premed or once-upon-a-time-premed I slept with at UVa was doing a post-bacc/SMP/wasn't a premed anymore.

My actual point is I think I'm just gonna go to CNU. Not a fan VCU's "vibe"
