Hello

Do I have to withdraw my acceptance from the other school before April 30th? I have said yes and paid both their 100 dollar fees.

Are there pros and cons to not withdrawing and keeping both?

If you paid the deposit, then no, I would think you could sit on it until classes start. Why dont you just choose on though???

Holding more than one acceptance past the deadline can often be grounds for rescindment, just make a decision.

What is the reason for holding onto two spots? Are you on a waitlist for a third school?

I hope this isn't a dumb question but how are applicants supposed to know that they can't hold more than one acceptance? I found out about this rule through SDN. Does the AAMC send a notification to people with multiple acceptances to let them know about the deadline? It seems like a lot of people would get in trouble for holding more than one acceptance simply because they didn't know they had to give any up.

Edit: I don't have any MD acceptances... yet.

You should have read the instructions before you submitted your application.

What about after April 30th? Say you get off a waitlist after 4/30, and at that point are accepted to two schools. How long do you have to choose between those schools?

They have to give you a fair amount of time. I've seen the actual days given vary. I think they're supposed to give you five days. They usually try to expedite the financial aid process to give you a chance to make your decision with all the info.
