Just a quick one as we approach the 15th.

Do schools confirm your withdrawal? I sent a letter to Upstate about a week ago withdrawing from the class but haven't heard a thing from them. If that letter were misplaced, put on a pile, etc. could I end up in the AMCAS computer as an outlaw for holding two places beyond May 15, thus jeopardizing my other acceptance?

Not all schools will confirm, but most do. However, it usually takes them more than a week to get back to you. I withdrew from Rochester and it probably took them about a month to send my deposit back. If you are worried then you can just call to be safe.

Dartmouth sent me a confirmation letter but I'd imagine it varies by school.

i just wrote this in the "call amcas" thread, but here's my story:

i withdrew from one school two weeks ago, got no confirmation, and called amcas today. i am still listed as holding acceptance there, so i had to call both admissions offices to make sure i didn't get dropped by the one i wanted to go to!

a small heart attack has just been avoided.

so you might call amcas. the number's listed on the other thread.

Hi,

here's a tip if you really want to make sure. email the admissions office w/ your withdraw and also select 'request receipt' features if you're using outlook express (it's available under tools menu). that way, when they read the email, it'll pop up a message asking them to confirm that they've gotten the message
