So I graduate in 5 weeks. Schools starts in about 5 months. What on Earth is there to do???
I'm thinking I'll be busy tying lose ends with my undergrad research during May and moving to Cali mid-August. So that leaves June and July. I was thinking about working in a lab as a tech. I really don't need to "relax" since that's what I've been doing this entire semester (only 1 serious class). Anyone have any ideas? I know it's :beat:thread, but still....🙄

I'm going to the east coast to sell alarms door to door for two months🙁 and hopefully make a fat chunk of cash 🙂 to survive on

go travel!!!!! forget working....you have the rest of your life to work 🙂
whatever you do, make sure to....ENJOY YOURSELF!!!

Dude... what are you thinking? hahahahah go travel!!!!!

Now me on the other hand, just starting my undergrad, will start working as a ortho assistant in a few weeks, my first time working/shadowing in the field, SO HAPPY!!!!!!!

Seriously, go do something unforgettable before your life takes a turn towards maturity. It your last HURRAH!

Buy a Eurail pass and go backpacking in Europe. That is what I would do.

Hi Laundry,

If you really want to find work, you can try applying for a contract job. I put my resume on Monster.com 3 weeks ago using my bio degree and research experience, and I got hired 2 weeks later. I just started my new job this week in a biotech company as a temporary research associate. It's pretty cool working in the industry and very different from academic research, so that's definitely an option you can look into.

move to California earlier and get use to $4 a gallon. Exlore The City and learn you way around. Three months will let you find out where there is to get a bite to eat and how to get from this place to that place during traffic.

Step 1:

Stop everything, and enjoy your life as you know it. Don't do something dumb and work. You are going to be working the rest of your life. Travel, or become "The Dude". Adhere to a strict alchohol regiment to keep your mind limber, and take part in things like joining a bowling league, and living by the beach as much as you can. This is your last chance before you enter into the buttheaving toilet bowl. It is your chance at a 1st retirement. If you have funds to live a simple lifestyle until D school without working, then DO IT.

I spent the 3 months before dental school living in a tent on a very remote shoreline of the florida keys. I had a saltwater kayak, a few good fishing rods/tackle, a portable grill, several bottles of tequila and rum, my i-pod, good books, sunscreen, and a limited budget. My time consisted of fishing for food (mostly mangrove snapper), reading, drinking margaritas, and enjoying life on the most basic and fundamental level. I told my friends and my family that I was checking out for a few months, and I maybe used my cell phone 3 or 4 times. This sort of thing can clear one's mind like you have never imagined. It was a breath of fresh air after undergrad. Get away from the craziness of normal life and do something you won't forget.

My friends who worked regretted doing so, and made an insignificant amount of money when was all said and done.

Step 2:

Invest some time in researching good housing for dental school. Some of my friends made the mistake of living where "everyone lives", and now have to deal with paper thin walls and constant partying/noise/annoying stool pushers who watch re-runs of law and order all night until 3 am.

Step 3:

Buy some lube and prepare for the fisting that is known as Dental School.
