Any opinions on difficulties presented from working part-time and being a student?
Feel free to share personal experiences

More personal question:
Would it be difficult (or stupid) to be a bartender for 2/3 nights a week as a dental student?

Thank you

Thank you

There has been numerous posts in the Dental section. They come down to the general consensus that a very few can manage a small amount of work, but why take the stress? You're investing hundreds of thousands of dollars and you want to make a few small paychecks each month? Also, what if you have a project due and you need to stay at school, but you have to work.

I'm sure you can do it, figure out where you want to be in dental school and go from there. Do a quick search, too, you'll find this discussed many times.

The dentist I work for said it would be difficult, but I'm sure for some not impossible. He said that he would work during breaks at a construction company his uncle owned. I guess you have to see if it is worth the small amount of money you would probably make and if your employer would be very flexible w/your schedule.

Construction company? Talk about brave. I'd be worried about getting my digit-making digits smashed.

If you can get by with a few hours of sleep at night it might be doable. Of course, it would help if you were a fast reader and retention of class material is no problem.

Down the block from Temple you can sell a pint of blood for $25. I'm gonna load up on Vitamin B12 and make a killing.

Gotta love going to school in the hood.

personally i dont think you will want to spend any possible time away from studying working. unless there is some reason that you absolutely need to work i wouldnt. banks are more than happy to lend you as much money as you want if you need more than the school says you do but i have lived well off what my loans are paying out. and if you are worried about debt after you can do the military thing.

thanks for the responses

i guess i've got my answer------Student Only
