Hey guys,

So I'm in the difficult position of choosing between two very different jobs in my gap year. One is a research assistant position at a biology lab in a university, another is working in a non-medically related industry. i realize that the research would be much more relevant to gaining experience for med school, but then again the other job is much much higher paying (and i do have college loans to pay off)....haha just wanted to see what are the opinions out there.

do you already have research experience? if so, take the higher paying job.

if you dont have any research experience and/or you really want to attend a research-intensive school, then take the lab job.

or dont take any job and do something else meaningful.

whatever you do, make sure you dont sleep all day and play Xbox.

If you can get some papers and publications out of the research job, I say go for that. It could help you with updates for schools later on in the application cycle.
