Anyone who took courses or got previous degree from other countries?
I just know a few weeks ago that some schools require WES eval!
This is quite frustrating because I already have BS and all pre-req in the US.

This is a long process for me.. coz it took me 2 weeks to sent the request to the university in my home country.... and may be almost two week for my out-of-country univerisity to mail it to WES ( I am in this process).. Then, it took WES 7 days for evaluation... and then they mail it to PharmCas.. and who know.. when pharmcas gonna finally submit it to school?

My concern is if the schools gonna consider my file complete without this eval? October PCAT is coming. but I think this foreign transcript will be completed later..

Anyone has experiences with the foreign transcript eval? I can't help being worried though..

By the way, did they downgrade B+ to B?

evaluated at Josephsilny and Associates. It took 20 days (they actually said it would be done in 10 days). NSU and PBA both asked for my foreign transcript evaluation. NSU considered my file incomplete without the evaluation.
Yes, they did downgrade most of my grades. Most of my A's dropped to either B/B- and my only 2 B's dropped to C's. Mine is a Bachelors degree in Physical therapy. I am graduating with an AA from a local community college.

I used to submit my eval to ECE. My GPA is also dropped.

I'm sorry for the reduced GPA but I think GPA from USA will weigh more. The required document was just received last week. It took so long for my transcript to be sent to WES from my country. My foreign university refused to use express mail survice. My WES eval was scheduled to be complete tomorrow. They promise it will done in one week. We'll see.🙂 I hope it is a fair evaluation.

Hey guys

I need your advice; I am a foreign medical school graduate and planning to join pharmacy school. I had my transcript evaluated bye ECE and I sent copies to some of the schools I'm interested in to know which credits would transfer. most schools would transfer my anatomy, physiology, biochem, microbiology coursework, but I still have to take general chem, organic chem, physics, calculus plus some social science and humanities courses in order to complete the prerequisites. my question is should I take those courses at a community college or a university? and how do I register for those courses?, do I have to choose a major? and what major should I choose?

Your advice is greatly appreciated

Your best bet is to select the schools you would like to apply to and pay attention to their pre-reqs. Also talk to the admission counselors at each place and then sign up for the required classes at the most convenient place, be it a community college or a university. I have found that the admission counselors at the pharmacy schools are very good about advising which college courses they will accept and usually they even have them listed on their website. Because many schools have different pre-reqs, it can be difficult to satisfy all, and that is why it is important to select the schools beforehand.

mdtopharm,

I think it doesn't matter if you choose a major. You just have to complete the pre-requisites. At some university, they have postbaccalaureate options. You don't have to declare a major and you can take the classes you want. Because you already have a degree, you won't be qualified for the federal financial aid/ grants (not loan). The courses at community college is more cost-saving.

I received my WES evaluation a few days ago.

My GPA from my BA was downgraded from 3.57 to 3.52. All B+ values are 3.33 instead of 3.5. All 3 credits semester hours were decreased to 2.5 or 2. All 4 credit semester hours were decreased to 3.5.

Still better than ECE evaluation because ECE ignore ( + )sign completely.
I don't understand their rationals regarding this. They probably think US/Canadian education is at the higher standard than other countries. That's why it's necessary to downgrade the GPA and credits!

However, I don't care. I took all my pre-reqs in the US.
