I have alot of concerns about paying for med schools. The first problem is I am not able to take federal loans because of my citizenship status. The second problem is that I don't have a cosigner for private loans currently. I might be able to find a cosigner next year tho. The question is, should I apply for med schools this year or should I wait for next year or whenever I'm able to find a cosigner? I was thinking that I can apply this year and then figure out the financial portion next year, do you guys think I would be able to do that? I mean like do medical schools accept an application without providing them with details about payment right away?
Thank you guys in advance
Money is important when it comes to applying, and as a non-US-citizen/permanent resident, your options to attend medical school in the US are very limited. Do your proper homework in schools where you want to attend, and ask the financial aid officer at those schools for advice. You can always wait to apply to medical school since they're not going to disappear anytime soon. Medical schools do make decisions without considering ability to pay, but there may be specific policies for international students regarding showing that ability to pay after offering a conditional acceptance (note: all acceptances are conditional).
