I want to lighten the mood in here given the release of MCATs and the application season. So I'll start this off with...

45/100 on an orgo test 😀 . Can anyone beat that?

I can't beat it, but I scored a 57/100 on a physics test. And I once had a dream where I scored a 19 on the MCAT; does that count???

Once got around a 23 on a process control test...the class average was also around a 23. Ahhh, the good ole days.

During the heart of pledge period my freshmen year, I got a 30 out of 150 on a calculus test. It was an F minus minus. I have to look back and laugh at that now.

21? Out of 100 on an Ochem2 test. Class average was a 35. We get to drop one midterm though, and I'm guessing that will be it. Didn't help much getting hit by a car the week of the test 🙂.

sophmore year, 45% on an ochem final which was about half of the final grade, class avg was 57% i think. F ochem and anything associated with it

yep, 41 on an organic exam, but it was regraded to 47 and then boosted with EC quizzes to 64. I also got a 59 on another exam that semester in the same class. I failed 2/3 of the exams, but I blew the final out of the water to land an A-. That was close.

48/100 on my very first college midterm (in general chemistry). Class average was 65. But, I lucked out and got a 94 on the second midterm, with the class average still at 65. I was so glad to pass the class.

36/100 on a physics exam
27/100 on a gen chem II exam

TOTAL ego bruiser when they report the range and your score is the "low." mmm...maybe "character building" is a better description.

This thread was already done.

here's my answer:

I got a 65 on an AIDS test.

Move along.

in ochem II i had no idea what i was doing (partially because my prof was so bad i never went to class). when i got my final i had to flip to page 20 out of 23 before i could partially recognize anything that was going on. i ended up just drawing random pictures all over the place. i scored a 50% (i have no idea how) and the class average was a 45%. i ended up with a B+ and still have no idea what any of it means. shocking how grades really don't indicate anything about how much you know.

🙄 don't click on the thread if it's old news for you. It's not that hard.

I swear I had that same dream...did you wake up all freaked out too?

I got 45/100 on my first orgo test too!! D.... i dont know why i sound so happy.... so studying a lot harder for the second...

That's O-chem for you. lots of people score like **** in that class if you're at a hard school. A 50 was a C at UGA.

I woke up in a cold sweat. Then started laughing upon the realization that it was only a dream. On test day, however, I was paranoid about misbubbling and I think the dream had something to do with it.

59 on a Quantitative Analysis (Analytical Chem) test....highest grade though.

48 on my first organic exam. It was then I knew why people despised organic chemistry. Funny thing is, I thought I was well prepared before the test.

Impressive scores everyone. However, I'm afraid no one can match the "negative scores" that were given out on one engineering exam that I had the misfortune of taking. That's right, some people got points taken off a PREVIOUS exam because they did so poorly. The mean was a 26.4 and the low score was a -13.

Ha. Beat that!

Oh yes - slept through a Calculus MIDTERM for a big fat 0. I had nightmares about it for years...

That's hilarious! What did the test cover?

Haha, wow. Now THAT is hardcore.

Yeah, in one of my engineering classes, I got a 30 on an exam. The class average was a 21, and the prof gave out 7 zeros in a class of 20. Some engineering profs are a$$holes!

I think the worst I ever got was in Orgo, around 35/100, but my good friend at the time bubbled in all "C"s on her exam and ended up doing better than the mean... 😱 😡

once got a 15 on an econometrics test. class average was 11. it was so stupid. at that point, what is the test measuring, really?

In my O Chem 2 class the mean for one of the tests was like a 13 (I think I had a 30 something), so that's no big deal. If means are that low I think that says something about the test. On mine I think the problem was that there were only a few questions worth a whole lot of points, and they were multiple step problems, so if you made a little mistake at the beginning you were basically screwed even if you had a good idea what you are doing and did everything else right the rest of the way. Wasn't mad cos if the whole class is doing that bad it is more comical than anything.

Ha Ha, negative scores, that is priceless! For my physics lab they used to just dock a point for the smallest mistakes that you made (5-7 page reports worth 10 points total), so I'm suprised nobody ever got negative scores. Thanks for the laugh.

My science low was a 27 on Bio I exam. My true low was a 0 on a test I took. It was in Old English and we had to parse a passage. I swear I wrote answers, lots of answers, got nothing right.

Dropped the class the next day. The a$$ professor has expected us to learn the ENTIRE pronoun system of Old English in one day, ONE DAY!! I figured that was a bad sign.

Ok, I feel better....hey has anyone else on here taken Old English??? How about Sanskrit...maybe I need a thread for weirdest class you ever took.....

Got a 10/100 on a test for a Diff. EQ class. The prof. decided to have some fun and make it a multiple choice test: partial credit not given, full credit if you got the question right, points taken off if you got it wrong, and no points for leaving it blank. I believe passing (based on the curve) was a -15...I just remember a B was 15-75, an A was above 75, and a C was -15 - 15. So essentially, one could just put his or her name on the exam and leave it blank and pass.
Needless to say, the prof apologized profusely for "screwing us over" with that test and he allowed us to drop our lowest exam grade for the semester. Sheesh.

That reminds me of a story of my dad's from when he was getting his MBA. He was in a business writing course. The papers they had to write had required word counts that decreased over time, even as the amount of subject matter to cover remained constant (the idea being to teach conciseness). Each paper was worth ten points, and the prof was a notoriously stingy grader. People routinely would get a 4, a 5, or a 6. 7 was actually pretty hard to get, and 8 was rare indeed. Nobody had ever heard of anyone actually getting a 9 or a 10.

One acquaintance from his study group was working on trimming words out of her next paper. She edited and re-edited, but couldn't get it down to the required 200 words. Finally she gave up, and, being honest, put her final word count of 204 on the top of her paper and handed it in. When it was returned, the prof had written, "Clear, thorough analysis. Well done. 10!" Below that, it said, "minus 4 words over limit = 6."

i once got a 32/110 on an orgo test. i was so upset with that grade, but i was on nyquil taking the test, and lucky for me, if one test is way out of line witht eh others, he drops the low one. so i still managed to finagle a B out of that class.

I got a 23/125 on an upper level biology classs.. Had to drop that class

33% or so on a calc I test.... simply because I didn't feel like studying! :scared: :scared:

What kind of prof does that???????????? 😱

I must prefice this by saying that I consider myself a "very good" test taker. I generally enjoy them - even the really hard ones.

Well, when I took accounting I put everything off until the last minute and basically tried to learn a semester's worth of material in about 3 days before the final... BAD idea. 😱

I don't remember my exact score, but I do remember having to write around the single tear drop that fell in the middle of one page as I was thinking about having to explain to my parents how I failed accounting. 🙁

I still don't know how I got a C in the class, but I definitely didn't go in to ask any question about it!

Forget exam scores, my GPA in college was the natural base log ~2.71 😛
Yeah, I got into med school also, Chicago, though that was in the early 1990's

Yea right...I'm not going to miss a chance to criticize something.

I'll contribute: I once dropped to 85% when I took an exam with a hangover.

I had a dream that I got a 40 and then someone came in and was like "No, you read it wrong, you got a 23."
I think i cried.... :scared:

Hey, I'm in....

Guess you were wrong....

Advanced Calc (I and II - the ones beyond Calc I, II and III). Professor would ask for homework and you'd turn in like 12-15 pages of work... and get back a ZERO. A FRIGGIN' ZERO! FOR HOURS AND HOURS OF WORK! Class sucked the life out of me. Worse yet, he'd let you re-do it, but he wouldn't return any grades back to you until the week before finals. So if you wanted to re-do and try to get a higher grade (still difficult), you had to redo all that work in like 3 days when every other class has exams and finals the very next week. Smoked the final exam tho, and taught me how to really write a proof. Now I can't do computational stuff right, but my proofs are awesome 🙂!

29/100 in O. Chem II... the average was 30

A couple of points here:

1. EVERYONE LIGHTEN UP!!!!! I love pre-allo.

2. I'm Army, so no GMO tour for me. And I'll be making 20-30K more than you during residency, so bite it. And I'm getting paid now, instead of going into debt, so double bite it.

And for the record, I had an F and a D on my transcript. Both were non-science though. Beat that.

EVINE, is there anyone in your class that had a 5 in verbal complemented by 10's in bio/phys? Thanks
