Hi all! Not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but I am a NY resident, retaking the MCAT in March, 3.71 cGPA and planning to apply this 2023 cycle. I am just now debating if it is worth it (what are my chances) to add Texas schools to my application plans. I think I would be happy living there and they of course have amazing programs, but I am wondering how out-of-state friendly it is and if I would even stand a chance. I know TCU uses AMCAS, but I appreciate any advice!

TCU has a particular teaching style that you may like, but read about it as much as you can.

Overall success of OOS applicants to TMDSAS schools is about 8%, so take into consideration that most OOS people don't apply due to self-selection, knowing that TMDSAS schools take only 10% OOS at the most.
OOS students who get into TMDSAS schools are generally highly competetive at AMCAS schools as well and may choose one closer to home.

That is great advice; thank you for reaching out!
