I am currently enrolled in a medical technology program and have recently been accepted into a medical school. I plan to complete the program, but I am debating on whether or not I should pay the $500 to take the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) exam at the end of the year. Would obtaining this benefit me in any way? Would it make me more competitive for residencies? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Might be a way to get some part time work during school and earn a little extra green, would probably be a net gain if that was the case

i doubt the license will work in any way for you and by the time you are done with med school, everyone will basically be on the same level with medical terminology (i assume) so I can't imagine it will help with residency. I would pass on it if it were me unless you hope to work a little in med school.
