writing utensil on test date...

I took the MCAT once before but I can't remember... are we allowed to bring in our own writing utensil into the testing room?

All I remember is that they gave me some pink booklet to do scratch work on (which is fine), and they gave me a #2 pencil or something (eh).

This might sound strange, but I'm really picky with what pen/pencil I like to use, and I remember not liking the pencil they gave me (it was one of those really weak, light lead)

But seriously, I think it varies among different testing centers. You should probably check with your testing center with their policy.

Funny story: my boyfriend told the test-center people (Prometric) if he can use his lucky pen....they laughed and said then sternly said no. How depressing to hear before a test.

I guess it depends on the test centers though.

pretty sure you're not allowed to bring any items in with you except for your ID card and key to your locker. Plus the paper and pencil that they give you. At least that's what it was like for my mcat center.

i agree, though, the pink paper combination with the pencil they gave me plus the fluorescent lighting made it really hard to see what i was writing and was one unanticipated problem for me.

no pens, ive taken the test 3 times and attribute my weak scores entirely to not having old trustie. Those pencils they give are favorable to right handed folks and im left. f the system.
