This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't know about Washington, but I called Oregon state and they said WICHE offers have gone out already, unless you are from a few states that haven't heard how much funding they are getting for the Higher Education program. Maybe Washington is the same? I just know that my home state (Utah) hasn't allowed any WICHE offers to go out and won't until the end of march/april *sigh* when legislation is let out.

Good luck to the OOS applicants these next few days -- and to our mailmen 😳

I just want good news in the mail so I can stop stressing about interviews. Speaking of that I should go get ready for Illinois. JKIM are you gonna be in the 24hr lab tuesday night, My plane gets in late and Im headed there for an all nighter of Biochem fun,

No mail today 🙁

Staying hopeful : where are you from? (I hope you dont mind me asking... I am just curious)

GeeQued: NO! i am sleeping today.. Ill be there tue night though

I knew it was really competitive to be OOS and get a spot, but I didn't realize until tonight that there are only 10 spots!! Woah!

Just wondering where you got that number...on the class statistics for the 2007-2008 cycle, 23 OOS matriculated and 51 spots were offered.

Thanks StayingHopeful. I guess I'll hope they go with numbers closer to last year's, as opposed to the average. Good luck with the mailman tomorrow!

WICHE and ID are not a combined pool. ID contracts 11 students every year so that number is always the same.

Still nothing...have any other OOS folks heard anything? They told me a week and a half when I interviewed on the 9th...I'm starting to think they're messing with me.

(I was looking at last year's stats as well)

They told us a week and a half last year too, and then barb decided to take a week off (guess she forgot about that) then there were record blizzards and I didn't have mail service for a week. All in all it was over 3 weeks later! Hang in there guys, I'm excited to start seeing some SDN'ers getting their big brown WSU envelopes. Just a little more time!!!

:luck:

Got my letter from WSU today...I'm an alternate. Good luck to everyone else!

I am in North Carolina. My acceptance letter came today! I tore it open in the post office lobby and gasped, and then got to share my news with some strangers... they were happy for me. 🙂🙂🙂

Congrats carolinaowl!!! Sharing news with strangers is always fun (definitely had to explain when I dropped an entrie tray of stuff at Ikea after getting called). Very exciting! 😀

*sighhh rejection hurts even wen expected. oh well... what's done is done.
Good luck everyone else!!

waitlisted.... anyone want to be the brave one to call and see if they'll give us the position number.

GeeQued:

While waiting in the waiting room for my interview, Abbie said that they don't rank. Instead, as spots become open, they reevaluate the applications of those on the waitlist. So, I don't know if calling will do any goo.

Ok thanks! KSU is the same way, which is just one more thing for me to stress about. I was also told initially the only accept a small number of nonsponsored oos (like 17) then wait and hear back from wiche and such before they open more slots for oos which usually ends up being around 30ish does that sound familiar to anyone else?

Hi,
Kinda new to the forum, was recommended by a few people and decided to check it out.
Anyways, I'm curious what people think to this situation:

I was invited to interview at WSU, I got my letter one week before my interview which was a MONTH later then it was postmarked. Since I hear that people are recieving their letters I don't know if I should call and see if they will give me any information about acceptance or not. I forgot to correct my address when I was interviewing (surprise surprise) but called in and left a message with Barb. The thing is, they had the right address all they were missing was the apartment number which doesn't really explain to me how I got the letter a month late. Anyways, just thought I'd see what you guys thought before I start annoying the WSU admissions board 🙂

They won't give you any information regarding acceptance over the phone (or so Barbara told me when I interviewed), but they might be able to at least send you another letter to the correct address.

congrats to all of you getting acceptances! very exciting! I also got to share my news with strangers last year. Juliesak, I would call Barb and ask. She's not on the board and it's her job to help you so call away. I had a similar thing with my letter last year and it made me a little less insane to know what day it was mailed on (which she told me so I bet she can tell you too.)

So has EVERYONE heard at least something? Cause I haven't yet but I'm from a WICHE state...hopefully that's a good thing? I hate this waiting!

As I understood it, at this point you're either a WICHE sponsored student, and have already been offered a position...or are in the general out of area pool, and it doesn't really matter if you come from a WICHE state, I think they just like taking they're time knowing what it does to us. 😉 I hated the 12 days 3 hours and 39 minutes (+/- a few minutes) between my interview and when I opened the mailbox and finally saw the big WSU envelope. Hopefully you'll get good news and soon.

Good luck to you and everyone else that's still waiting!

Well I called back in January because it said on their website that they'd be sending WICHE offers early Feb. But the person I talked to said they were waiting for my home state (utah) to let THEM know who they were funding because of legislation cuts this year.

So hopefully the hold up is because they are waiting to see if I get funded and not because I'm rejected 🙁

Well I know some of the WICHE letters have gone out, friend from Nevada got her rejection letter (shes not to happy considering she was a WICHE alternate last year)

Sherman- Thanks! That's good to know (not that your friend got rejected)! Hopefully the hold up is a good thing then.

At a meeting with the Dean, Bryan Slinker, a couple of weeks ago we were told that a couple of WICHE states had asked WSU not to give offers to students from their states (utah was one he specifically mentiones) due to funding uncertainties. Not sure if those states had gotten back to them with final decisions or not but Barb could probably tell you.

Hey all you guys who go to/seem to know everything about WSU...I just need to double-triple check something.

Somewhere I got the impression (don't remember where) that Washington allows one to establish residency after a year, even while attending school. To me this means instate tuition after one year of out of state.
I asked about this during my interview, and at least one of the interviewers confirmed it (maybe both, honestly that part is a blur 😳).

Does anybody know who the best person/place would be to get information on this? This is a pretty big factor in whether I can go to school (one year at $43,000 and three at $18,000 is doable, four at $43,000 is probably not).

I'd say email/call Barbara...she seems like the go-to person for most questions . And if she doesn't know the answer, she'll be able to direct you to the right person.🙂

It's true, but there are some guidelines you must follow to establish residency. Contact Barb for those requirements. 🙂

Thanks! I just called the certifying officer from Utah and she said they will find out on the 12th who gets funded.
