thanks for the info lailanni.

It would really suck to not get a chance at WSU. . . .but at least i have three other interviews scheduled to look forward to 😳

here's something I did to prepare for my interview and was really happy I did: You have to write a 15 minute essay on a topic they will give you. You have to write this essay in a crowded, noisy room with a border collie type dog jumping on you. Don't get irritated and don't get flustered and don't try to write a Pulizer Prize winning document.

I had my mom look at the AVMA site for current issues in vet med, write some down and seal them. I then timed myself, opened the topic and wrote an essay. I did 2 or 3 to prepare the week or so before. The value of this exercise was to see about how much I could write so that I knew how to structure the essay (not trying to write so much that I had to leave it unfinished) and also to get me ready for potential questions, one of which was the actual question they asked! It really took a lot of anxiety away for me and when that cute dog was leaving paw prints all over my essay I just patted her head and didn't worry about it!

Everyone I know that has applied to WSU had got their acceptance/rejection letters today... everyone but me..🙁
I actually havent heard from any of the schools that I applied to...

no word from WSU yet. . . .
i did update my permanent address but i forgot to let them know that it was my new current address too. so i guess i now have to wait for me letter to get to my current and then be forwarded to my permanent (I moved). ugh. . . . .

by the way. . . .does wsu have more than one date reserved for OOS, or is it just 2/10?

I was just wondering if anyone knows how many people OOS they interview vs how many they accept? It's a long shot, but worth asking...
THANKS!!

dreamvet,

The Prospective Student blog that others have mentioned on here says that Washington interviews are 1/26-1/28, Idaho interviews are 1/29-1/30, and out of area interviews are 2/9-2/13. Also, the packets include information about activities (tours, mixers, etc.) occurring over that entire week.

Just got an interview at WSU.... on the SAME day as my Tufts interview!!!😱
What are the chances of that happening?

Anyone know how open they are to re-scheduling?

anyone else still waiting to hear? 😕

I haven't heard anything from WSU other than that my application is complete...but it sounds like they've already invited OOS students to interview?

im OOS and I havent heard Anything at all...
even though all my friends had received their interview/rejection letters via snail mail already...
What are the chances of WSU losing one's application?😱

Has anyone OOS received rejection letters? It seems they'd like to torture us just a little bit longer than IS'ers

I am most likely going to decline my interview...so hopefully that will open up an interview slot for someone else.

b.t.w. I'm OOS

I am an OOS and I also haven't heard anything. I believe that it's because I'm all the way on the east coast and snail mail just takes long... I don't know why but I am so hopeful that I will get an interview letter sometime this week.. It's just this feeling I have and I truly believe in it.. I hope it just comes true.. 🙂

I called WSU today, and they asked me what state i was from.
When I said Florida, they said that they were still in the process of reviewing the apps, that we should hear in another week or so.
Hope this helps 😳

good luck OOS-ers! im IS, and have my interview this tues. the 27th... i'll be sure to let you guys know how it went!!! ahhh, getting excited/nervous! i finally got my suit the other day! man, it was pretty darn hard to find a suit that fit over here -- and i live in seattle. it's getting SOOOO close! how is the weather like there in pullman now?

the weather is crappy crappy here, but don't let that get you down! You should be floating on interview cloud 9!! I'm excited to see the new recruits. My friend is interviewing on the 26th so I'll be hanging around to wish her (and SDN'ers!) luck and remember to keep calm. The committee is there to see what an awesome person you are, not to put you through the ringer. So relax and try to have fun, that is what they want to see.

I just called admissions office and they said not all the decisions are mailed out and the next set of decisions will be in the mailing system on Monday (I think they are mailing it today or sth). I asked whether that was based on location but she said it is based on the "tier" system they have.. So I hope this helps and I hope we all will receive good news sometime next week! 🙂

look at it from the bright side: no rejection! And there is still a good chance of getting an interview! yay!

Dont worry guys I emailed Barbara today asking (in a nice way) where is my letter??? Rejection or interview .. I need to know!! She emailed me back saying my letter had been mailed 4 days ago and
low and behold . I got an interview for 2/12!!! Keep your heads up guys and keep checkin them mail boxes because it will come soon enough! Im :xf: for you guys!!

I'm so not ready for any of my interviews February has come way to freaking fast.

I'm so not ready!!!!!!, your coming to interview prep tomorrow right!! I freaking got food poisoning last night!

Well, it looks like I'm one of the lucky ones that gets to go first. My interview is Monday, the 26th at 9:00 am, so at least I get it out of the way sooner. I'll try and post any advice I have as soon afterward as I can for those of you that interview later. Good luck to all!

Shes OOS West Coast, I'd give yourself a couple extra mailing days.

Good Luck to everyone with interviews this week! Drive safe today if you are heading over! It is snowing lightly this morning. Maybe I will meet some of you this week!

no interview for me. good luck to everyone else!!

None here either, east coast OOS, *frown, sniff* I received two rejections in one day. Not a good way to start the work week....on the bright side There's Something About Mary is on tv right now and its put a smile on my face 😀
Good luck to everyone interviewing!:luck:

Well, an other rejection here... I really had a good feeling about this one.. I guess this tells me sth: I should never trust my instincts!

Oh by the way, I'm gonna stop reading this wsu thread to keep myself sane but I'm going to miss you guys! 🙂

Hey fellow WSU interviewees!

So I just had my interview today (IS), and it went pretty well! The interviewers were great, and the interview itself was very laid back. They really just want to know you, so be yourself. (You'll hear that a million times when you're here, and it's really true!) They really just asked me q's about my application and my experiences. we know in 2 weeks!!! ahhhhhh

The staff and students were EXTREMELY welcoming and friendly, and the facilities are awesome. The fellow in-state interviewees are extremely nice too! Besides a couple that were just really nervous and/or didn't want to socialize. We got to sit in the lecture classes so be sure to make use of that opportunity to see how it feels like.

A couple suggestions I have:

-- It is snowing, as I type, now in Pullman. I had bought a flight into Pullman, but it diverted into Lewiston, which is pretty common. It's okay, though b/c it's only about 45mins -1hr drive. BUT, be prepared to find your own transportation!!! The airline will not try to arrange ANYTHING for you! It was extremely irritating. There are car rentals, but since I didn't know the area very well, me and two others took a taxi. AND LET ME TELL YOU -- this taxi was horrid! DO NOT TAKE THE ABC TAXI. he shows up in a dented, 70yr old vehicle, stops at a red light and then proceeds to run the red light, stops at a gas station and then turns the engine ON while the gas was running. we made it safely, and he was a nice guy -- but he was totally creepy and very sketch.

-- The Quality Inn is awesome. They provide a free shuttle to/from airport and to/from the campus (which is only like 5 min car ride away). They have awesome breakfast, the rooms are amazing -- I had a microwave, fridge, safe, tv, and two beds (even though I traveled alone) LOL. oh and free wi-fi.

ok, well good luck everyone!!! just relax, WSU is amazing!!

oh, and a quick shout out to lailanni!!!! you're awesome! the whole 1st year class was awesome!!! thanks for everything! 😛

cody and zip i PM-ed you, but i think we met and went on the tour together 🙂 good luck to you!

I also got 2 rejections in one day...there should be some sort of law against that!

Awwww, thanks! 🙂

The whole class is pretty darn excited about seeing all the applicants ...we've been in your shoes before and know how nerve-racking/exciting the whole process is!!! All the students were so friendly and welcoming when I came to interview, it's nice to get a chance to pass it along to the next year's class.

So any of the in-staters have the committee with Foreyt?, I was curious if he walked you back to Barbs office. I didn't get walked back (told me to find my way back), and I am kinda freaking out about it (everyone else I talked to got escourted back).

I had him last year! He did the same thing!!! Don't think too much into it!

Hello all! Anyone else have an interview on FEB12th (thur)? I am deathly afraid of the mini essay we have to write! I can write a decent essay if i spend enough time on it but 15 minutes!??!? Man, I didnt even finish one of my GRE essays... 😕

Hi everyone,
I booked a flight for my interview, but with a 4:15pm time slot I'm worried I might not make it for my flight (7:40pm) out of Pullman. The ticket is refundable, so changing it is not an issue, but I was wondering if anyone has had their interview and knows the airport as far as timing.
Thank you in advance!!
😀

Don't worry about the essay to much its pretty informal, you self time while your waiting with a bunch of other people about to get interviewed. You pick one of two questions which are very broad, and you just fill one side of a blank paper (paper includes the questions), so its not very long or detailed.

Kekepmapa04, thanks for letting me know that happened to you, has definitely relieved some of the stress I was feeling after my interview.

Also, StayingHopeful I think you should be fine with that time for your flight, the airport is about 5 minutes from WSU, and your interview shouldn't take more than a half an hour.

The essay isn't bad, but i had a really hard time concentrating because we were asked to write it in the lobby, where there are lots of conversations going on. I would mentally prepare yourself to concentrate and block out noise.

Otherwise, my interview was really fun and stress-free.

Sometimes the flights are diverted to Lewiston, which is about 45min away from Pullman. If that happens you might be cutting it a little close depending on the weather here. I wouldn't worry about it yet!

I got a rejection letter on Saturday 1/24. I wasn't surprised but it didn't help my self-esteem that my Colorado rejection letter came at the same time. Oh, well.

P.S. I live in Southern California.

Hello everyone!

Im booking flights right now to go to WSU on the 12th and I was just wondering if any of you guys know how long the whole interview process takes. My interview is at 930am and all the flights leaving Spokane are at 115pm and I was wondering if you guys think that I would make it. Please let me know because the flight tickets are growing exponentially as we speak!!:scared:

I called the school to check about flight timing (but since I'm flying out of Pullman I'm not sure about getting to Spokane) and the woman I spoke with said that the interview would take 25-30 minutes. Hope that helps!!
