Yes, you can leave right after your interview...all the other stuff planned throughout the day is optional I believe (attending classes, taking tours, etc.)

Good luck with your flight!

To everyone else that interviewed last week and are anxiously awaiting their letters, good luck, and we're almost there!:xf:

everything else is optional, but i highly recommend it of course since it'll be neato to see everything! there's different times for classes/tours/pizza mixers so hopefully it'll fit your schedules!

Just withdrew my application... so I hope that gives someone else a chance! 😀

It felt wierd and bitter-sweet (I fought so hard for my interviews!) but even though it seems like a great school, I know it was the best thing. I really did not anticipate chosing WSU over OSU (mostly due to location and job/grad school opportunities for my SO but partially because I have family in Ohio). sigh...

Good luck everyone!

mstweetie,

I'm a WA state resident and I echo your sentiments! I am having such a hard time waiting...argh. Just 1-2 weeks more!

Ya, I am instate to and I go to WSU for undergrad. You can tell which ones of us over here had interviews, we're the jumpy, stressed out ones waiting for an letter in the mail...

My interview is on 2/12 and my friend a couple of days prior to that (we are both OOS) but do you guys have any hints or anything that might help us with the interview process? What is the schedule of that day like. All i Know is that you go there, do a 15 min essay, and then interview and leave. Any thing would help at this point considering im very very nervous for this interview!!

My only interview was western (behavioral based) so I have no idea what to expect!!😕

Also, I think WSU took it off their website, but does anyone have the long list of questions that they ask??

According to the Prospective Students blog on the WSU website, they took the practice questions down because it seemed as though the interviewees were coming in too rehearsed to their interviews. They were all very generic and you can probably find a very similar list just by using your favorite search engine.

If I had any advice to give about your interview day it would be to come early...parking is sometimes very hard to come by if you aren't there before 8am. There are quite a few parking lots near the vet school, but I don't know that I would have wanted to walk in the cold in heels. Make sure you get a visitors parking pass though!

Good luck!!! All of us first years were so excited to see the interviewees last week because we were in your shoes only a year ago! Don't stress too much if you think your interview goes really bad...mine was horrible and I was almost in tears when I walked out.

Congrats!!! I am excited to meet all the new admits in the fall!!

Me too! Got in that is...although I'm also excited to meet everyone.

congratulations to all of you that got in!! 😍Ive got my interview on Thur and im SUPER nervous!! Im scared they are going to ask me questions I don't know and Im just going to sit there and stare... and say "*Sigghh PASS* lol:laugh:

JKIM02,
I know how you feel - I'm leaving in 2 hrs for the airport and I'm just trying not to think of the interview.

For those like me interviewing tomorrow pack warmly theres tons of snow in Spokane, some in Pullman but just flat out cold in general. Coming from Socal im freezing needless to say

Right now theirs really no snow in Pullman, its been in the mid 30's-40s so it mostly all melted. For people interviewing I know what kinda of questions the interviewers ask depends on who you get, but I would beef up on ethics and recent events. I got a bunch of in the practice a client does..., what do you do?, and got asked about the "Horse Ban", aka slaughter, and talked about Prop 2. Other people I talked to got more economic and other types of questions. Hope this helps!

That's weird, because those are the kinds of questions I expected, but didn't really get any ethical questions. My interviewers really only made it through 3-4 questions before we ran out of time. We did more b.s.ing and discussing things than strict question answer stuff. Like Sherman said, definitely have some knowledge on ethics and current events, both veterinary and general, but don't stress too much. The interviews...at least mine anyway, was one of the most laid back interviews I've ever had. Just be yourself and if they stump you, just go with it and don't be afraid to admit if you don't have a great answer for every question. Good luck to all the out of staters and congrats to my fellow classmates of 2013!!!

That's nothing! It was -11F the morning of my interview. Yes, dress warm, but it's actually been very nice in Central and Eastern Washington the last couple weeks. For those of you from warmer climates, you might want to pack long johns to wear under your suits, since 40 degrees might seem balmy to me and frigid to you.

Today was warmer than yesterday but its just hard having 80 degree weather on Tuesday where I live to 30-40 here LOL They said there was suppose to be snow today but its sunny and nice hopefully it will stay that way tomorrow.

Hey Cody and Zip,

You can buy a stethoscope now!

Cold? This is warm compared to what it was, and the snow has mostly melted. I actually had the sun roof open yesterday just because it was so nice out. And by nice I mean almost 40. And it was the first time my windows weren't frozen shut in a while 😉

If it does get to snowing again, it shouldn't be like the huge storm we had earlier. But bring a coat, gloves, and sensible shoes in case.

good luck this week to all the interviewees. just relax, you're going to do GREAT!!! And don't mind the zombie-like look of all us vet students, I think all three years have 3 + exams this week!! :luck:

Yes, I feel bad for any prospective student that sits in on any first year class. Right now we're having a craptacular week - 3 exams. So if we seem stressed, crazy, too chatty/ too quiet, you just have to believe us that it isn't usually like this. The class seems a little mental right now.

I do have to say that the OOS-ers seem to be snappier dressers than than IS. Nice suits you OOS people! 👍

Hi Lailanni! I wanted to "second" your post-
Please don't mind us with our glazed-over looks and hyperactive tendencies! Here's hoping it will be you guys next year! I felt so bad for the interviewees in neuro today... we had a meltdown as a class, completely. It's not always so bad! I think this is pretty much our worst week besides finals this semester.
Good luck everyone, and congrats to those who got in already! Can't wait to see who got in from WSU undergrad, I know several of you!
Here I go back to studying immuno.

we melted down in neuro?? How do I miss this? I thought neuro went fine today!! Goes to show I'm in my own world most days...

The back of the room was having serious issues. Chatty Cathy disease mostly. If you're up front I guess you could have missed it. 😉

I just wanted to say that everyone at WSU was so nice today (I'm seriously sitting in the airport in Pullman about to go home). Esp. the second years students who came to keep me entertained while I was writing my little essay. 😀 Hum, and cute little Josie as well. So yeah, I totally shouldn't have stressed out about this, everybody was super nice. 👍

So i interviewed yesterday and i agree with almost everyone, everyone was incredibly nice up in pullman and spokane!
I mainly interviewed with just WICHE applicants (im frm CA) but im freaking out because I dont think that I did well at all. 🙁
I said I dont know 2x and I think I went off topic once where one of the interviewers had to ask me the question again...
Well, at least I got to visit Pullman. I am just sad because I ended up really liking it up there!😳

Do you know what exactly they were looking for? Perhaps I wasnt professional enough but people kept seying just be yourself and I was myself and I guess i can be a bit "silly" sometimes...
I guess we shall see in 5+ days.:luck:

They don't do interviews for WICHE but they have a contract with Idaho, a WICHE state, maybe that's what JKIM02 meant?

WSU doesn't interview WICHE. Only WA, ID, and out of area. So JKIM02 would be OOS.

Wouldn't worry about the interview JKIM02, they just want to get to know you as a person. Hopefully they liked you.

I dont know anything about wiche or anything since I am from California but the people I was in the interview waiting room area with were from arizona and New Mexico. They were talking about wiche so I just assumed they were frm wiche states ... which they are ... rite? I can be wrong ...🙄

I have a bad feeling about my interview so congrats to everyone else that interviewed OOS I think i just upped your chances on getting in!😀

I'm pretty sure that all the WICHE offers have gone out...and WICHE students don't interview...it's part of being a WICHE student. They are indeed from WICHE states, but must not have been picked by their states to be sponsored. Now they have to apply as out of staters and go in the same pool as other non washington residents.

I forgot to ask someone at the interview, does anyone know about how many people they interviewed?
And how many out of state spots are there?

I felt like the interview went pretty well....didn't say anything that has me kicking myself... 🙄
We'll see I guess. I don't feel like my odds are too good.

Idaho is not a WICHE state. We do have a contract with WSU and we do interview. WICHE students do not interview and are subject to very different requirements post-graduation depending on the state they are from.

I overheard that this week they interviewed non-funded WICHE students, so they are from WICHE states, but would not be eligible for in-state tuition.

I am sure your interview was not as horrible as you think! The worst part is the wait after...so do something to de-stress yourself and hopefully we will see you in the fall!!!! Good luck!
