Wtf Uic

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just checked my status page and it changed from Decision Pending to - A decision has been made on your app. allow 2 weeks for correspondance.

I interviewed on the 16th of Feb. and one of my interviewers mentioned the committee was meeting on the 22nd. Looks like I'll find out either way very soon.

So i just checked online and it says that a final decision was made and to wait for 2 weeks for correspondance. I interviewed late January and they made a relatively quick turnaround with my app--which is surprising from what i've been reading.

but the suspense is killing me.
:scared:
good luck to all. 😉
got the same!

:luck: guys!! 🙂

When it changed to the a final decision has been made...bla bla bla on my status page, i got in! And if u look up "status page" in the search, in previous years those who had that message also were accepted. So it is highly possible that things are looking in ure favor!

Thanks for the info. Do you remember about how long you waited for the letter to arrive in the mail?

Yeah, a fellow Californian here as well trying to guage when to begin compulsively checking my mailbox.

There's of course no guarantees. But from what I remember, almost all of those who received notice that a decision had been made post-interview WERE acceptances. Not saying they couldn't dole out rejections, too, but I can't think of a case that this happened at this point.

Good luck everyone!

So my status page now shows an interview schedule. I don't see how to schedule an interview on here, and I didn't get an interview invite through email. This happen to anyone else? Am I supposed to call and set up an interview or will I hear from them soon? Thanks!

You should receive a letter in the mail very soon, but I suggest you just call and schedule your interview as soon as possible.

definitely call. they will help you set up your interview. you want to make sure to do that ASAP. 👍 congrats!

Anybody know when in march (i'd assume) their next one is?
well, the january and feb. meetings were in about the third week of the month...so i'd guess somewhere around the third week of march. however, it may be sooner than that, depending on when their last interviews are.

Well I waited a few days and nothing came in the mail so I gave them a buzz today. They said I should be getting a letter in the mail shortly, but I could go ahead and set up my interview with them, so I did. I'm pretty excited 🙂

I think March 8 was the earliest available, but it didn't work for me so I scheduled for the 16th

If anyone's interested - I just got my acceptance letter from U of I. Really quick turn-around. I interviewed on Feb. 16th. My status page changed this Monday. Apparently they sent the acceptance packet to my parent's house for whatever reason.

Anyways, for those of you who had status changes - check your mail in the coming days. My parents live in the suburbs, which is why they got it pretty quickly. Good luck all!

For those that interviewed how long after your interview did it take for your status to change from Evaluations not complete?

Took me about a week or so. I think a week to 10 days is pretty standard.

Congrats, BKadow. Hopefully you'll be the first of many...

I take it your folks live in the Chicago suburbs?

Speak for yourself on the quick turn around....I interviewed early December, and I've yet to hear back from them. I've already sent a letter of interest, and I call every other Thursday. Anyone else have any suggestions? PS: This was the best interview ever- I have no idea what could have gone better (not bragging, just saying that I have no clue what the hold up is).

If you've already sent your letter of interest and are corresponding with them by phone (and every other Thursday is a good amount; any more would be too much), I don't know what else you can do. Sorry...

Funny, that's the same thing my graduate advisor said....I just don't get it.

There's a chance that you interviewers just haven't been to the adcom meetings.

And (touch wood this isn't the case), but there is the chance that you've been rejected. My understanding is that UIC hasn't sent out any rejections, so I'm assuming that these folks are put in a stack until they decide to mail them out.

Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers that your interviewers have had rotating cases of mono or something. Best of luck....

Actually, when i talked to a lady yesterday she hinted at the same thing that it really depends if you file is actually reviewed which depends on the interview date..but when i mentioned some people who received acceptances before and after my date, she confirmed that's true but you cant compare each individual's decision with others...so not sure wat that means???? anyone????

I understand schools not revealing admission decisions over the phone, but can't they at least let you know if your file has gone before the committee? It seems that that would actually reduce calls to the office.

Ugh. I sympathize with everyone in a holding pattern. Not fun...

I agree..also i forgot to add that when I asked her if I was on hold, she said "not at all" and told me to "hang in there"...

Joined the Decision Pending club today! Probably no reason to be excited, but I am.🙂

WOOHOO! got the packet today (Med Scholars Program applicant)!! I'm still waiting to hear from the UIC MD/PhD program in Chicago since their admissions are separate. This is getting complicated. But I'm happy! 🙂

Well, I got my first-ever, honest-to-God, medical school acceptance!

Got the fat packet from UIC this afternoon here in San Francisco....

will be paying rush double the amount of UIC as they have blip'd me. Probably translate to two years repaying the loan. Complete in September. Rejection march. Thanks for nothing UIC

Not to throw salt in open wounds here, but are you implying that you were just rejected post-interview from UIC?

Also- to all those hoping my interview committee members had "rotating cases of mono" (and thanks for the optimistic support on my behalf- much appreciated 👍 )- I have a question. I didn't interview at Chicago's campus. So, who speaks to the committee on my behalf? It's obviously not the people that interviewed me since they're at a different location. Do I get assigned a random advocate? And if so, since they've never met me, does it indeed benefit those applicants who interview and meet their advocate at Chicago? Hmmmm.....

I got my acceptance letter on Thursday! Couldn't be happier. UIC is an amazing school! If you are planning on attending, be sure to head over to our class thread and introduce yourself!

Here's a breakdown of my app (hopefully this will help those who are waiting to hear back)

Interviewed: Late January
Status page change: About 1 week after my interview, it changed from "Evaluation not complete" to "Decision pending"
Reviewed: Feb. Ad com meeting
Status Page change: Two business days after the Ad Com meeting, my status page changed from "Decision pending" to "A Final decision has been made on your app...etc"
Acceptance package: Received it three business days after last status page change. I live in CA and I received it pretty quickly. I love my mailman!

I know of at least three Cali residents who have been accepted to UIC. I'm really happy for you all...but I'm a little sad because I'm an IL resident and haven't heard anything back from UIC since my interview in early December. It just seems odd to me that UIC, being a state school, seems to be accepting Cali residents quite easily. Maybe this is always the case with UIC admissions...

Oh well. I'm crossing my fingers to hopefully hear from UIC after the March admissions committee meeting.

Good luck, everyone! :luck:

Yeah, with the state of California's medical school system, there's a bit of an emigration every year. Some non-CA schools have a CA population of 20 or 30%, believe it or not.

Best of luck with the March meeting and hope you hear good news soon...

Interviewed late January.
Evaluated during the February 22nd ADCOM.
Received my packet on March 2nd.
Sobering up this morning.

BTW, anyone pursing the UMed program out there, te gusta o no?

We're still in this boat together?! Dang kid...I think we're sinkin'!🙁
Do you know the date of the March meeting? I think it was WCGee (sorry, I may have botched that name) who had an advisor on AdCom...I keep hoping they'll throw their two cents in about the meeting date...

Seconded! Anyone with info on the date of the March meeting should get some sort of prize.

The commitee has been meeting on the 3rd Thursday of the month so I'm guessing they will meet on March 22. I'm not expecting any decision to be made on my application until May. At this point my plan is to attend to RFU.

The 3rd Thursday in March is the 15th so I guess if its the 3rd Thur. it will be the 15th, if its the 3rd week in March on Thurs we are looking at the 22nd. If any of that makes any sense I'm not sure but I tried my best not to get a headache.

Exactly the confusion I was experiencing in my head- and why I wanted someone with the DL to spill their guts.... ahem, cough, WCGee, cough....pretty pretty please?!?!

I'll email my advisor and find out 🙂
