How long did it take until application was complete (including recommendation letters) to receive an interview invite, Thanks!

You only have to have your primary submitted to receive an interview invite. You don't have to submit secondary or letters until after you are invited for an interview. Although you can submit your letters know so they will be there when they review your file.

Good luck:luck:

I found out yesterday that I am accepted! That's exciting, but now there are a lot of decisions to be made. Anyone accepted to multiple schools and trying to weigh the pros and cons?

I haven't been accepted anywhere else yet but I have 2 pending interviews and a number of schools I haven't heard from yet.

I liked WVSOM a lot but I am just unsure what else is out there.

I have been accepted here and OUCOM. Also interviewing at A.T Still- Arizona and Touro-Nevada in October. I'm still unsure of where I'll end up, but plan on deciding in November. Just go to all interviews you can until you have to make the decision. But I agree, I wouldn't mind WVSOM 🙂 It was very nice!

I'm in the same boat: I've been accepted to WVSOM and I have 3 more interviews so far.

LOts of decisions! WVSOM or LMU-DCOM or RVUCOM or PCOM-GA

For me cost, location, and residency matches in MD programs are most important on my list.....Help!

How long did they take to tell you the result?
was it a phone call or email?
and if possible to share, what are the stat of a selected student?
sorry for so many questions?

WVSOM interviews students on Mondays and Wednesdays and you find out the next Tuesday! (only wait a week) You are notified by your status online; it changes from "decision pending" to "accept applicant." Also, you receive a letter in the mail shortly after. Hmm my stats are sort of irregular so maybe someone else can answer that for you. But, I know that WVSOM's website says a competitive MCAT score is 24.

The school has my recommendation letters and my MCAT scores were released to them ten days ago, but it still says that I am "decision deferred." I have called a couple of times and they say that they haven't gotten my MCAT yet but that they will soon. Has anyone else had this problem?

Does anyone know which hotels are offering discounted rates for interviewees, if any? Thanks!

The Super 8 will give you a discount if you mention you are interviewing at WVSOM. I think it ended up only being $55-ish a night after the discount.

They also interview on Fridays... I interviewed on Friday and found out the following Tuesday.

congrats.
when was your interview?

I interviewed the 3rd full week of September and recieved the official acceptance letter yesterday in the mail. I thought WV had great facilities in comparision to other schools I have visited and everyone was extremely friendly. I look forward to matriculating!

Anyone interviewing tomorrow want to meet up for dinner this evening?

Hey,

After you turned in your AACOMAS application and the application said that it had been downloaded by the school, when did you get an e-mail from WVSOM with your PIN number and ID?

Around 10 days for me

To answer the previous questions:

Everything you've read is true...awesome admissions staff, great campus, great school

Out of state student (VA)

Accepted 6 days post interview

Many years medical experience (EMS, shadowing, etc.)

GPA 3.55 (science 3.45, graduate 3.5)

MCAT 25Q

Stayed at the holiday inn express. It's about 3 min. from campus and got a discounted rate of $80. Nice hotel.

Thanks! Their committee meets every Tuesday so I've been compulsively checking my online status all day since that is where you can find out first. Mine says "Accept with contingency" because I need to have my undergrad school send them a letter saying that I fulfilled my English requirements (noooo idea why, but thats what the office told me). Then there is also now a little blurb about deposit info that isn't very informative. I've been told that they send out a packet via snail mail as well.

Ia m sorry to hear abut "with contingency" tag but you will be fine, just clarify that issue.

If the "accept applicant" status is shown, it maens that it is an acceptence and one can share teh acceptence info with family friends?
is this correct?

Did you get an email also ? or where are you seeing the deposit info?

Hmm? I already did clarify it with them. "Accept with contingency" is a full acceptance. For just means that at my university we could get English/writing requirements through non-English departments (as in, I took an ecology lab course which counted towards the requirement). They brought it up during my interview, so it wasn't a surprise. They just need have someone send over a paper saying the classes had enough writing to be counted for the requirement. So If anyone else gets this status, don't freak out!! You ARE accepted, something is probably just funky with your paperwork!

The deposit info is on the same page as the acceptance.

Edit: For my case, the contingency has also been showing up on my checklist page since my interview invite was sent out. So if you have that status, you may be able to check on there to see what it is as well.

Great. Thanks for sharing the info. So just get started on the paper work for english and make sure that it is send soon. Find it out as soon as possible and wrost case if this is not working, you have spring and summer left to complete the course from a community school. I am sure you dont have to go that far.

It would be good if they just send an email about acceptence.

I had the accept with contingency tag for about a week. They reassured me that it was not a big issue, and that once I got my paper work with aacomas straightened out everything would be fine. They also told me that it was safe to be excited because it was still an official acceptance.

So congratulations!🙂

Hi, as soon as I get my status "accept applicant" and I am ready to join WVSOM, can I write medical student in my profile?

Thanks

I waited until I was able to get everything straightened out, and I lost the "with contingency" part....lol

However, I guess you can do whatever you want because I'm not your mama lol 🙂👍

And what do you mean by "waited until I was able to get everything straightened out"?

thanks again

Congrats to all those accepted, WVSOM is truly a great school!

Well, it's kind of a long story, but the gist of it is that AACOMAS didn't update my coursework for the summer term, even though they received my transcipts an entire month before the interview. They kept telling me that my app was updated, but neither me or the school could see the changes. It took three days of phone calls, but it finally got straightened out. Therefore, I just meant that I waited until I resolved the AACOMAS application issue before I considered myself officially accepted, but that is just the way I am. I am not one to "count my chickens before they hatch." LOL

I've had my primary in for over a month and i'm still pending. How long before they usually let u know if u got an interview or if ur rejected?

It can be a while before you get invited in for a interview. I had my primary in by October, did not receive a interview until Early Spring. Just be patient in waiting, it sucks but patience usually pays off.

If you are to worried just call the admissions staff they are nicest people they will help you in anyway possible. Good luck!

I am very happy for you that everything got resolved.
The is a very good school. IS tution is very low. OOS tution is very high bit I feel it is worth of it.

I submitted my application near the end of July but didn't get the results of my MCAT til the end of August. I gave them a call this past week and was told I am invited for interview. I haven't received the e-mail yet but I guess my application took a while too. Give them a call!

I've heard that WVSOM's acceptance rate after interview is pretty high.
did anyone in SDN got waitlisted/rejected from WVSOM so far?

Also, are we eligible for instate tuition in 2nd year?

Thanks!

Also, are we eligible for instate tuition in 2nd year?

In order to be eligible for instate tuition you had to be living there for over a year prior to applying so unfortunately you have to pay the OOS tuition for all 4 years.

Yes, that is exactly what the financial aide lady said when she spoke to us after our interviews.

Acceptance rate varies year to year, but I have read/heard that it is normally between 60 and 75%.

Has anyone ever heard of them offering in-state tuition to students from out of state if they really like them? I know MSU and some others do this but I don't know about WV.

I've never heard that in any of the threads and during the interview they did not mention it. They simply stated you can only qualify for in-state tuition is you live in state for a year before applying to the school. In SDN threads you can qualify for instate tution by marrying a WV resident. As far as I know there is no good way to become instate.

That is correct you can't qualify for in-state unless you have lived in WV a year before your application. Or you can marry a WV resident I guess that can always help. Good luck! Congrats to those that received admissions.

Hi Everyone,

Anyone on here who interviewed on the morning of 10/11? I'm trying to figure out the interviewer's e-mail addresses. And...I stupidly forgot the name of the third interviewer, who replaced the professor who was supposed to interview us but got a flat tire. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! 🙂
