You don't have kids so you may not relate to it...

But many parents rent bouncy houses for parties for kids where a company comes out and set up it up at your house. But why not have a warehouse with 3 to 5 bouncy houses...dining area for party etc.

I took my daughter to one of those...packed...one party after another. And they charge $250 per hour per party. I asked a HS kid who works there...she said..there are minimum of at least 10 parties per weekend. And this place was in the middle of nowhere.

So, a Chuck E Cheese type of place with bouncy houses but no kitchen.

Small investment with residual income. What you think?

Depends where. Obviously there is already one in the Dallas-Ft Wroth area, maybe I could see what the market would be like in Pittsburgh.

I personally plan on investing in a few businesses in Morgantown. The town has too few businesses and way too much population growth. They are building and adding on the the University by huge chunks every year. Student pop will blossom from 21000 in 2000 to an estimated 29000 next year, 33000 by 2010. Plans are in the mix to build a medical research park in Suncrest that will create 3100 new jobs. That's 3100 affluent people with good incomes. With all this growth, more shopping, more restraunts, and more entertainment will be needed. You should see the movie theaters here. Every Friday you have to buy tickets to the best new show that shows at 10PM by 3:30PM or it will be sold out. There are only two theaters for the whole town. There is no (good) arcade in the whole town. A guy with $2 million that builds a Jullians or Dave and Buster's type place will make millions. 31000 students, no arcade. WTF are the business people thinking? I KNOW there is a demand for it because whenever I go up to the 'Burgh on the weekends, I see dozens of WVU kids at D&B that make the 70 drive just for an arcade.

There is also this chain of restraunts throughout WV called Tudor's Biscuit World. It's all over the state, they make cheap eats, people love it, and there isn't one in Motown. There is a Facebook group with several thousand members entitled "Bring Tudor's to Morgantown." Put that on High Street (where all the bars and entertainment are) and make it 24 hours, you'll make a bucket of money.

Remember, you make money when you're the first one on the block or if you have enough market share. DFW can afford 100 bouncy houses with our population.

College Town businesses is trickier. College kids aren't always the biggest spenders..and it's not always a year round business.

The businesses you're thinking about require a significant asset and fund..

The bouncy house won't cost more than $50,000 for entire setup...much less if I lease the equipment. Very elaborate large scale ones could cost up to $250,000... and can generate a significant income.

Restaurants require long hours and heavy overhead....and many employees.

What the heck is an arcade? Like a place with video games?? Hasn't that gone with the wind in the 80's?

What exactly is a bouncy house?

Also, the D&B near the college campus would be a good idea!

Zpack - I see your point....but...bouncy houses & the like - expensive entertainment - requires indulgent parents with good incomes. It can't just be lots of people...there has to be a mindset.

Its exists where I am N CA bay area & obviously Dallas. What about combining both....an arcade area, which could be designed & appeal to the high adolescent, low 20-somethings which would be used in evenings mostly & your bouncy areas - appeals to the parents w/ small children.

However...if I remember those days...as a parent - they were horribly boring!!!!!😴 How about liquor service & big screens so parents could have a drink & watch the football game while their kid gets lost in those bouncy things?????

Anybody see those "internet arcades"? They are a big deal here...lots of computers with internet access & the 20-somethings play those internet games with each other. They're dark & weird to me, but my son has been a few times.

Biscuit World???? Is that different from Biscuitville? I went to one once in NC - it was AWFUL! Now I can't remember if it was Buscuit World or Ville😕

I agree. Unless it's food or beer. Then it's a goldmine.

Indeed, hence I said I'd need about $2 million.

This is what I would worry about. There are actually too many jobs and not enough people. McDonalds here pays $8/hour due to workforce demand. That's unheard of for the rest of the state. Unemployment doesn't exist in Morgantown.

A Tudor's actually only starts at $150,000, maximum, for a new joint.

They are a WV only chain and serve bloody delicious breakfast stuff. There isn't a breakfast joint downtown anywhere and I know there is a huge demand.

The multi bouncy room birthday party palace thing is a good idea I've never thought of before.

"Jumpy's" as we call them here in San Diego are extremely popular. Every birthday here always has a jumpy. Any types of games that were traditionally played at birthday parties has been virtually eliminated by these jumpy's. The kids play in them for hours. I think it costs maybe around $100 or so to rent for a few hours.

We have something similar back home... It's a warehouse (used to be a lowes) that they filled up with go-carts, putt-putt, ski-ball, arcade, climbing wall (blow up--is this similar to a "bouncy house?") and all sorts of stuff like this. You pay like $20 and get to pick 5 things to do, plus you get pizza. That place is always packed. They also do parties. Kids, church groups, etc love it. And we are also in a "rural" town where most of the population is from the college. I also thought a place like this would be perfect in a "mid size" rural town. Think about it $20/person.... AND THIS PLACE IS PACKED EVERY WEEKEND. 👍

Appeals to both the college kids and the younger kids.

Now you have to figure in the cost (and headache) of acquiring a liquor license... especially w/ kids!

I'd think WV would be able to serve wine & beer in a pizza place & those are filled with kids. That's the case in CA anyway. I know when my kids were little...a glass of wine would have been heavenly in those places!

But...I've never been to WV......

Doesn't Chucky Cheese have beer? Yall are making me want to go play some skee ball with this conversation.

Did anybody say WINE?...I'll frequent there, but I can't own one else, I'll drink all the wine in stock🙂

those sound like good business ideas.
