yale decision date?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah. I'm not feeling particularly courageous today. :meanie:

I bit the bullet and called. The lady said that ALL decisions, as far she knows at this point, are going to be via snail mail. Hmm...that's interesting. They're apparently "in the process of getting the final decision letters together" now. She made a point of saying that everyone gets their letter now - both people who interviewed and people who applied but didn't get interviews, so it's a lot of letters for them to get together.

She said, once again that they'll have them out to us by the "end of March" but she added that she thinks it will be "probably sooner than that." I couldn't get her to peg a specific date, though...

If anyone else wants to try their luck, the number is 203.785.2643; she's really nice. 🙂

Wow. Not as exciting as emails on the 20th, but certainly very detailed. Thanks for taking one for the team!

i actually just got an acceptance email a few minutes ago from Dean Silverman...did anyone else get this or am i dreaming?

<3 GOD! yale just accepted me!

MD/PhD just found out via email....not sure if that means anything about MD admissions though

Just heard as well! Where are you all choosing between at this point?

Great work everyone! Looks like we got our *insert appropriate holiday here* presents early! 😀

Was it only MD/PHDs excepted today? or only MDs too? Were they all timestamped for the same time?

Y yo tambien! I am so excited.

(I actually don't know how to speak spanish, so don't know if what i wrote is correct.)

The only thing that's a little worrisome was that they didn't personalized the acceptance email. It only said Dear "Accepted M.D. Applicant." I'm not sure if this is common...I got really EXCITED then paranoia kicked in.

Are all of you that are getting in MD program only?

I'm straight MD for the MD/PHD applicants who are wondering.

Wow. I guess I didn't get in. I thought my interviews went pretty well too🙁

damn that's too bad decisions for the day...waitlist from washU and a rejection/waitlist from yale. crap.

is it safe to assume that

acceptance = email today

rejections/waitlists= snailmaill

???

thats what it feels like. although, i hope not. 🙁

Oh god *hyperventillating*, I think I just got rejected by default.

 i smell rejection heading this way. anyone know if letters were sent yet?

*crosses fingers for high priority WL*

anyone knowledgeable on the structure/trends/policies ysm has regarding their waitlist?

i imagine their waitlist doesn't move too much.

sigh, i thought i killed my interviews too.

How much the waitlist moves depends on the cycle and quality/competitiveness of students applying. Their modest waitlist is divided into Group 1 (highest priority), Group 2, and Group 3.

Group 1 consists of folks who will most definitely get it. People on the waitlist, in general, will have an opportunity to call in and inquire about their position within the waitlist.

Again, keep in mind that since Yale's waitlist is relatively small, you're pretty much guaranteed a spot if you're placed in Group 1. In fact, folks in Group 1 are usually invited to Second Look Weekend.

:luck: to everyone!

I'm a bit confused by the posts....so to clarify:

Any of you email acceptees apply MD program only, or were all of you MD/PhD?

Pretty pretty please say you were all MD/PhD! I don't mind surfin the waitlist, but I'll be heartbroken if Yale doesn't love me back. 🙁

Congrats to all you accepted folks regardless! 🙂 👍

I got an acceptance email today. I was a candidate for the MD program ONLY. No MD/PhD. Sorry. I hope you're on the high priority list. Good luck!

if we didnt recieve an email from yale today, does that mean there is a very good chance that we got rejected/waitlisted?

I'm not sure if Yale sends initial acceptances all in ONE batch. From past years' threads, it seems as though they only send acceptances via email (on top of snail mail).

Stay positive and good luck!

I think admissions offices lie quite frequently. If you didn't get an email, you were waitlisted/rejected. But Yale seems to take a good chunk of people from the waitlist, so not to worry! I hope it works out for everyone. 🙂

It will be a tough decision for me...right now between Yale, Hopkins, and UCSF. All are great schools, and I'm extremely fortunate to have the decision. I hope someone will be able to take my spots!

I like your name

If anything had the potential to induce mass hysteria, it was news of these emails.

Personally I'm banking that Yale only sent emails to its top people and the rest of us will just get our acceptance by mail. I mean why would they tell us on our interview dates and when people call that they only do acceptances by mail only to mess with us by only sending acceptances via email?

I mean March 20th is still a ways off so I'll clutch to this hope however fleeting 'cause it'd just be too depressing otherwise.

Hi,

I'd like to confirm with someone about the Yale decisions process: do they send out decisions by email or mail? I called last week and they said they weren't that electronic yet??

Also, when do M.D. acceptances come out? 3/20?

I've noticed a few people getting acceptances today for MD/PhD.

Please let me know!!! Also, do you think a letter of intent will be helpful at this point?

THANKS! Good luck!

I hope we all get acceptances!!!!!!!

I really really really really hope acceptances are going out by snail mail also!!!! Ahhhh....I LOVE YALE!!!! PLEASE LOVE ME BACK!!!!

Good luck everyone! and Congrats to those of you who's received happy news via email!

I think some people today received MD acceptances through email. I will post the email I got to help clear up some of the confusion:

Dear Accepted MD Applicant:

Congratulations! You have been accepted into the MD program at the Yale
University School of Medicine. Your official acceptance letter, signed
by Dean of Admissions XX, was mailed earlier this afternoon from
New Haven. We are sending this e-mail now to make sure you receive this
wonderful news right away.

...[some stuff about second look weekend]...

We hope you will be able to attend Second Look Weekend, where you will
have a chance to learn more about the School, mingle with students and
faculty, and meet many of your future classmates. Additional details
will be sent shortly.

Congratulations again on your acceptance. Please let us know if we can
be of assistance in any way.

Sincerely,

I really really really really hope acceptances are going out by snail mail also!!!! Ahhhh....I LOVE YALE!!!! PLEASE LOVE ME BACK!!!!

This is from the acceptance email:

"Your official acceptance letter, signed by Dean of Admissions Laura Ment, was mailed earlier this afternoon from New Haven. We are sending this e-mail now to make sure you receive this wonderful news right away."

Also, I checked past threads on the matter and it seems like they only send both email and snail mail for those initially accepted. But who knows, today was Fri (end of the week for the admissions office). They may send another acceptance email batch on Monday? If not, I hope you're on the high priority waitlist!
