There are some schools that don’t accept online bachelors degrees. I can’t name them off the top of my head but I know that there are some that won’t or you’ll have to give an explanation of sorts. Others won’t accept online prerequisites. You would be fine for these schools,

The belief that since schools do not notate online classes this wont be a problem is unfortunately a myth

1) Some schools/universities may have additional info on official transcripts about online courses or sections

2) AMCAS uses the National Student Clearing House (NSCH) database of college course catalog descriptions and registrar course/section info as the first automated step in the verification process. I would say that full information from at least 75% of the schools in the country exist in this database with lesser amounts of data for the rest. So your section number can give you up in seconds

3) At individual medical schools, coursework is not typically checked for fulfillment until after you have taken up an offer of acceptance during prematriculation. Here schools may perform indepth due diligence that may include contacting school registrar and/or requiring verification from other sources. This indepth due diligence is becoming more common as medical schools fall under the umbrella or association of large hospital systems.

4) Application audits continue after acceptance into your years as a medical students (as LCME with review them as part of re-accreditation). If you are found to have lied on your application, even after 2 years of classes, a school can rescind your acceptance and remove you for the ethical violation
cant I explain myself why because I'm doing a swap at the last moment to do something I want

What does that even mean? So you started at a CC and then enrolled at an online university program and graduated.( I can’t tell if you have graduated from what shared.) And now you are doing in person premed courses?
What’s this “ swap you are doing at the last moment to do something you want”?

And for the record, you can do whatever you want on your application. Doesn’t mean it’s okay, or will be reviewed positively by ADCOMS or that the rules will be waived, etc. etc.
GOOD luck.

to go to medical school and i graduated CC but went online after to finish my bachelors degree but I'm not happy with it and I always wanted to do more

and has been mentioned previously in the thread, some schools have formally policies that prohibit online degrees. You can still apply and perhaps been accepted at these schools but that would require they give you a waiver of the requirements which cannot be done until AFTER you have been accepted. This waiver gets recorded and will be part of the audit by LCME when schools get re-accredited. Too many waivers can get noted and schools get dinged for this. Hence waivers of this magnitude may be difficult
what can I do at this point I have my bachelor's and complete the rest of the requirements in person I wanted to go to Drexel medical school ? i can't go back now and re-do my bachelor's in person. would me getting that wavier work ?

I think that successful in person prereqs would go a long way in convincing adcom you can handle workload. I remember reading on FAQs that UCF allows online degree and maybe UF but I didn’t look too intensely since my UG was in person

I can confirm that UCF *WILL NOT* even open your app if you did UG online. The entirety of my premed courses were in-person in a respected uni, but because I opted to take stupid classes like Composition online the adcom told me I was SOL.

That was >4 years ago, so things may have changed, but that was my experience.

Why? Because they have far more applicants than spots, and they can do whatever they want! Some schools will be fine, many won't.

Online is considered less rigorous, more prone to cheating, etc., etc., etc. The grades and quality of instruction are consequently often not considered comparable to in-person coursework, which puts you at a huge disadvantage, even when a school will accept it.

Exceptions were made during the depths of COVID, but, med school is generally not online, the practice of medicine is generally not online, and the expectation is that your health will not prevent you from having an in-person education.

YOU need to figure out what a given school's policy is, directly with the schools, BEFORE you waste time and money applying. We can all go back and forth about whether it's fair, or necessary, but, it is what it is. Good luck!!

I got online bachelors done and I understand it but I didn't know I wanted to go to med school till I finished my bachelors and not now anymore before it did now. I'm going back in person to finish the rest of the pre-requirements I need . I know its in person but I couldn't only option was online or wait a while I wanted to get done to see what I wanted to do and I made up my mind. I stated in another post I had a leukemia bone marrow transplant, low immune system wanted to get done than waste my time not doing anything.

I totally understand! :) It is what it is. The important thing is that you took care of your health issue.

The important thing now, besides taking care of your prerequisites, is to make sure you don't apply to schools that will automatically reject you because you are not meeting their requirements. As a result, your takeaway from this thread should be that you should personally check with each and every school you want to apply to, in order to make sure that you either meet their requirements OR that they will waive them for you. If any school says no, just cross them off your list and move on to the next one.

Congratulations on beating leukemia, and good luck!!! If you can do that, you can certainly do this!!!

This is from ucf website so I’m guessing they may have changed policies

Yes. Online degrees earned at a regionally accredited institution located in the United States will be considered in the admissions process. Please be aware every medical school may have their own requirements for admission. You should consult the Medical School Admissions Requirements (Mec-Msar-rw) and/or each institution’s admissions website to determine their specific requirements.

Not really sure about UF actually.

I'm very glad that they came around.
Still pretty chuffed that they snubbed me, tbh. It was a ridiculous situation... EVERYONE (especially in the age of COVID) does some of their classwork online these days. I still have their email clarifying that I wasn't able to matriculate.

NOTE: I don't have an "online" degree, but some of my non-science courses were online credits, and that was enough to garner this response:

Very glad this is no longer the case, bravo for the positive change, UCF.

things changed and my situation I can explain why I didn't do it the way it supposes to be done. does that mean my online degree will work ?

OP, you could make a list of schools that you may be interested in and email admissions. Most offices are friendly and responsive in my experience contacting them.

That's good then does that mean I can use my degree I got online then and pre-requirements in person.

OP you have been told several times on this thread it is up to you to find out what schools will take online degrees. There isn’t one person on this thread that can speak for any schools let alone all med schools. You seem to have lots of time to do this research and I get the impression you still have in person classes to take, so calm down, do well in your classes work hard at your ECs, study hard for the MCAT and build the best application possible.

+1 to this, I should have clarified that I showed that email to prove that the policy must have changed, so always verify what a stranger on the internet says
