Official 2014-2015 GI Fellowship Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Weekends are good for taking a break from constantly checking emails for a ERAS notification.
Skimming through last years match thread on SDN, I feel like this year, programs have been slower at sending invites/rejections. Anyone else agree?

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, have not received any interview calls yet. One rejection from Methodist Dallas. I am an IMG on J1 visa.

Welcome gitole, most places have not sent out interviews yet so hold tight. We hopefully will see some more excitement this week.

why it is VERY quiet? Are they really reviewing applications.. not even a rejection...
is it like this every year ?

silence here as well, i really think that the list of calls/rejections we have on this website is accurate.
I wonder when CCF will send their interviews.

what is the importance of connections? Can a telephone call make the difference?

I hear its the most important part of the process.

Road to GI:
AMG - PD letter - Research - Chief Residency - and of course, Step scores above 230

As for IMGs: all of the above including the most important part, a phone call

How can I add a LOR after I have applied to programs? I currently have 3 letters on file and 4th letter on its way

how much does step 3 count? I took it before residency and have low scores. on step 1 and 2 I have very good scores. 3 published papers 6 abstracts 14 posters and 2 oral presentation. how much will low step 3 hurt my chances. plus im on j1 visa.

Carolinas Medical Center invite today
Got an email from Kaiser LA that they are reviewing applications now?

Got university hospital case medical center in Cleveland, OH today.

hi all, I'm an IMG. I have great research, a community hospital, US citizen, average USMLE step 1 and step 2 CK scores (CS Pass) but failed step 3 by 1 point on my 1st attempt but passed on my 2nd attempt. I have great LORs and people who are willing to make phone calls on my behalf.

Anyone know of people matching into GI after a failed step but a pass on the 2nd try?

are you an internal candidate or did others hear from U of Miami today also?

Yeah, I did not hear from them, GI2K15, are you an internal candidate?

Other than GI2K15 no one received a Miami interview thus far.

Gi2k15 has mostly southeast interviews so he might be a local around there

rejection from University of Washington, no invits yet :annoyed:

Same here, U Wash rej, no ivs yet

U Wash ....they kindly rejected me: ..."Even though your application was a strong one, it was in competition with numerous superbly qualified candidates"......

well, they did not even bother to send me a rejection..!!
