There, I think everyone is on it now...after mws99 reposted, tweetie_bird was kicked off again. Don't worry, we really do want you on here! 🙂 I'm going to be a senior at Franklin & Marshall College in PA, and I'm going to Hershey (PSU) for med school. We have an early program with PSU so I applied last summer and was accepted. I took the MCATs last August. Unfortunately, I still need to fill out the AMCAS. 😡 Anyways, I'll be on here checking up on everyone else. 🙂

Nice to see you all here. I graduated from a small liberal arts college in 2001, and was rejected from 16 med schoosl during the 2000-2001 admission game due to a malicious letter of rec writer... BE CAREFUL WHO AND HOW YOU ASK FOR LETTERS OF REC... Anyway...when I knew I wasn't getting in anywhere, I began a Epi MPH program (like Lola! and sortof like kathleeya) at the Univ. of Minnesota School of Public Health. And like Tweetie, I am also engaged - my deadline...uh, date is May 3 2003. Luckily my fiance is willing to move nearly anywhere for my schooling - which is a good thing since all but two of my 20 schools are out of state. So in the next year I'll get my MPH, get married, and (hopefully) start medical school.

I have a lot of good research, hospice volunteer, and Boy Scout experience. Ugrad GPA is a bit low, grad GPA is good, MCAT is 31-S,so I'm hoping for the best. I give myself an 85% chance at the U of MN, and 50% at at least one other school...we'll see.

Nice to meet you all, and if any of you apply to or interview at the U of MN, let me know - wouldn't mind helping a fellow SDNer out with whatever.

i go to a small liberal arts college outside of philly....anyone from the area can probably figure out where i've been working the last few summers (hint: it's a hospital). about me...hmmm, i play/coach lacrosse and work/volunteer with kids a lot. besides that, i'm a psych major with a neuroscience concentration, and a french minor. what else?? i'm a vegetarian and have an identical twin sister who is most likely pre-law (not fair that they don't even have to freak out about applying yet!!!) 😛 how's that for (moderately) interesting facts about myself?

I'm a 29 yo non-trad. I have a BS in physics from U. Dayton (Ohio) and OD (that's doctor of optometry) from Ohio State. I applied to 9 schools. I am on active duty in the Army in Washington, DC. Top pick right now is USUHS, but if tomorrow is a bad day at work, then it will be one of those "I'm getting out of the service days" in which case my top pick will be Ohio State (again). However, I am holding out hope that 1. Case will accept me and 2. they will offer me a scholarship.

You'll know me at the interviews--I will be in green! (My Army uniform is the nicest suit I own!).

Is the traditional student still the one who graduates in 4 years and goes straight to med school after that? Hahaha I can never mention my school without someone asking me that question! It's the one in West LA. I'd rate myself as a 4.0 - 4.5, but not a legitimate 4.5.

Bruinmojo was about a 1.5 the last time I saw him play. HAHA 🙂

About me: non-traditional applicant, went to my state school for ugrad & grad. My fatal flaw has been my Ugrad GPA, but I've been taking postbacc classes for a couple of years now. I work in a hospital, basically getting paid to shadow (I actually do a lot more than that). I'm retaking the MCAT in August (last time was in '98), and I'm applying to about 30 schools. I have a cat with massive hairball problem, and if I can get through the application season without her yakking on a secondary, I will count myself lucky.

Oh yeah, and I'm not actually Samoan--it's just my favorite kind of Girl Scout cookie.

cool! its good to see another tennis player on a premed board. i recently won a 5.5 tournament, i just played it for kicks but i wouldn't necessarily rate myself that high b/c according to the rating guide, u have to have very solid volleys, which i just don't. i only win thru my groundstrokes.

putting myself on the list... lurker here for ~1 year... dec '99 umich grad, worked as a r&d scientist at a way cool ann arbor biotech company for ~1.5yr, spent a year as an ecology grad student, spending my summer in chest waders in wetlands in michigan. i guess this makes me non-trad? applied to 15 schools. secondaries are hard to do when you're out in the field 4 days a week! good luck all!

I'm a 27 y/o, non-URM, non-trad, grad of small midwestern lib. arts school, currently pursuing MS in Physiology at a larger midwestern univ. Looking to meet up with a midwest/eastern med school for a four-year fling. I'm a first time applicant, but I've been around the MCAT block twice. Don't let anyone lie to you, the second time is better than the first!

i'm kickin myself for not playing in college - each year i thought i wouldn't have enough time - but in retrospect i had plenty - all good though, the philly marathon should beat any athletic aspirations out of me😀

I feel you there. After I ran the LA marathon, I gave up running for 5 motnhs and counting. Gained about 14 pounds in the 5 months.
