Hello. I've recently discovered this site and am - for the most part - very impressed with the attitudes of those corresponding in this forum. You all seem very mature and compassionate to volunteer your opinions and advice in the simple interest of encouraging others in a similar position as yourself.

But please.. although the popularity of this thread is indisputable, I'm completely lost on its utility. If this kind of information is important in determining where to apply, then wouldn't it be more appropriate to consult matriculant averages released directly from the respective schools of interest? Such information is readily available, and presumably, better represents a program's actual admission standards. Besides, am I the only modestly-credentialed-but-certainly-no-less-qualified applicant who truly believes that dental admissions is more than a crude numbers game?

Perhaps you will find this statement naive, but it is my opinion that [with the exception of the occasional ego boost] this page inevitably sets us all up for a lot of unproductive agony and self-doubt. Best of luck everyone.

I know I have used the old applicant stats pages for the last couple years as a referance and for INSPIRATION! I think they are useful for a variety of reasons that I dont feel like going into right now.

I hope so, it gets a little stressful sometimes when you don't hear from some schools. I've also gotten quite a few rejects - all state schools except Marquette though.

Someone posted a PAT score of 13 here? How did that happen? The very first time I took the PAT section on the Kaplan I got a 17. That's without any prior practice.

^^^ It happens to people sometimes. I got my score with maybe one practice section under my belt on Top Score Pro. It told me I got a 21, and I ended up getting a 17 on the actual test.

Some people are sort of born with the ability to do the PAT and others really have to practice to get from 13 to say 17 (the average). I'm sure if we both took it again with practice we'd get in the 20s easily. PAT is all about practice, but different people start out at different scores (their little or no practice scores). I'm sure there are people who could get in the 20s the first time they take it.

totally agree with your post sxr71.

unfortunately, some people are born as raidernation and they never disaapear in the black hole for good.
but then thank god for the ignore button.:D
