yes some parts of my test were very hard to do. but that has nothing to do with whether i should post my stats or not.

i would have posted them even if they were all 15's or 29's.

PERFECT3434. Actually, I have the same question as ecdoesit. As I know, most of the schools start interviewing and reviewing (at least) students since Sep. 15. I also see many people get interviews from "multiple" schools at the interview thread at this forum.
May I ask you one more question? Is it possible to waive any course after you get admission? Or any course listed on the website is a must to take? Thanks!

I don't believe any of the other schools I've applied to have started interviews yet. Maybe they have and they just don't want me 🙂

It's just time to sit and wait 🙁

Those courses on the website that say prereqs are etched in stone. Meaning you have to complete them. Your acceptance is continguent upon you completing those courses with an acceptable grade (C or better) prior to the dental class starting. They usually have you sign a form stating you are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in the remaining classes required when you interview and that they will be completed.

perfect answer ddsdude.

i am actually missing a required course for indiana and they did send me a form to sign saying that i will have it completed b4 i go to indiana if i got accepted.

as far as interviews go, i think that it is still early. the people who have gotten interviews alreday are people who either sent their DAT and AADSAS in May or who have rediculous scores (25+). it could also be that they somehow were impressed by that particular applicant.

i think that we should expect to hear a lot from schools sometime next month.

i don't think you have anything to worry about after those many interview invites. obviously, you are a good cadidate or you wouldn't have gotten those interviews.

congrats!

i am having trouble receiving pms from you guys. i keep getting emails saying my pm box is full but i have deleted all the pms i have gotten.

does anyone know what i should do?

bobli_chef - You should have no problem with marquette.

They only interview in state applicants because there are less spots for in state students (ie only a certain amount of spots are funded for in state students) - so you could recieve acceptance without an interview.

What do you guys think about my chances at UOP and VCU/MCV, specifically?

I'm particularly worried about my PAT, but I don't plan on retaking the DAT at any time.

Thanks...

If you are a Virginia resident (since you mentioned UVA for your undergrad), you should be a shoo-in for VCU-- They have a preference for VA residents, especially those VA residents with your stats.

Your stats are definitely competitive for UOP. I wouldn't bother retaking the DAT if I was in your shoes-- They look good enough, at least to me. 😀

Luck!

it would be nice to see some bio classes in your transcript
even though it is not a biggie.
think about it. dental school is a lot more on bio than math.

hql2c,

retaking the DAT?
you gotta be kidding me if you even think about having o retake it.
man your cores are very good and your gpa is above avg.

i really doubt that you'll have any problems getting in.

I'm new to SDN but it seems that most of you guys should be a shoe in for D school. Maybe I'm just panicking but I don't even have my AADSAS in and here are my #'s.

Undergrad Ed: UNC
Cumulative Undergrad. GPA: 3.47
Science Undergrad. GPA: 3.57

DAT: AA: 20, Bio 22, Gchem 22, Ochem 20, TSci 21, RC 20, and BOOM QR 17, PAT 17
I honestly don't know what happened on those sections, it seems that my best practice scores were my worst and vice versa. I never got below a 21 on my practice PATs.

Also, my freshman year I went to NC State which goes on a 4.33 scale for A+'s. My GPA was calculated with those in mind. On a 4.0 scale, my GPA is around 4.33 and science of 4.48. Do you know if the 4.33's are calculated?

I don't have any research experience(majored in advertising), spent a year volunteering at the UNC Craniofacial center, and around 20 hours of shadowing. I work full time as a habilitation tech., working with the developmental disabled.

I am out of my mind worried that I will not get into any school this year. I am applying to 13 schools with UNC as my top choice. If I finish my app by next week, is it reasonable to think there will still be room in any class?

Thanks...

"is it reasonable to think there will still be room in any class?"

Its very reasonable. Just get your papers in ASAP. BTW, I dont think there is such a thing as "shoe-in". But, nonetheless, your numbers are competitive. Congrats and good luck.

I haven't heard any feedback on my stats. I was wondering if anyone knows about my chances of getting into my list of schools are. Which of those schools are easier to get into? and which are harder? Also, I was curious if anyone knows what schools do with multiple DAT scores. Does anyone know if they average the scores, or take the best score? I basically retook the DAT again to raise my PAT score. I did better on my second set of scores, however, I did end up scoring a 19 on General Chemistry the second time (I got a 21 the first time). All my other scores in the academic part were around the 23 range though. I'd appreciate any kind of feedback whatsoever. Thanks!

KMF

Your stat is great.
If I am you, I will just focus on preparing for the interviews.

And try not to go to CA because I am applying there too(just kidding)

If you havent done so, please fill up the interview feedback.
Thank you.

You can pretty much rule out Tufts (people with higher stats than you have already recieved rejections), and Upenn. As for the others, you never know!

Good Luck

read science textbooks, not those commercial test-prep.
target those topics/areas that you are not familiar with.

you have to get a better DAT score to have a good chance.
Use your remaining time wisely.
Good luck

What are the thoughts on out-of-state acceptances to the non-Virginia Schools on the list? My plans are to eventually live in Texas, so I'm hoping to at least get interviews there. My scores and grades are decent but not stellar. I'm hoping some of my experience may help me out.

..any thoughts are appreciated...

UTSA and Baylor is going to be a long shot for out of staters with under a 20 on the DAT. That is unless you get a letter and really shine during your interview(s).

Your stats are a bit a low but you never know. Your second DAT might be better and if it is you'll have a shot for few schools in your list. NYU for one. Also you might consider taking some extra classes and raising your GPA a little make is like 3.2 --3.3 Then you should be fine. Good luck on your November DAT and have fun

Hi guys, I am one of the late applicants. Could someone tell me what are my chances of getting in this year with this stats or there is no hope?! 🙁

Approximate wait is 6 weeks, if you apply early, for AADSAS to
complete the process and submit the applications to schools
you applied to. So, I would expect your application will be seen
around late October, if the schools don't get swamped. You
may expect something by the middle of November 2003 at the best. Good luck friend!

I just finished the DAT. I am pretty happy. It came out to be much better than I expected. Here are my stats:

Florida State University
Transfer from Tallahasse community college
Biology major
DAT:
Academic average 21
perceptual: 19
Quantitative reasoning:21
Reading:21
Biology:21
G chem:19
O chem:21
Total science: 20

The last practice test I took on topscore, I made a 14 on G chem part. so this was a big shock to me.

Schools applied: UF, UNC, U of Mich(ann arbor), U pitt, tufts, UCSF, temple, Nova, U of maryland and U of chicago.

Haven't heard anything from most schools.
Total GPA: 3.88
Scinece GPA: 3.85

I am pretty excited. I hope all of you guys do well on the tests and interviews.

An update on my status:today is october 24, 2003.
I have recieved interview from UCSF, U of maryland, U of pitt and UF in the past two weeks.

Another update: 11/24/03
I attended UCSF and UF interviews. Went pretty well.
I have also recieved interview from U of mich and temple.
Nova sent me secondaries, Tufts has asked for more money, the only schools that I haven't heard anything from were UNC and UIC. UIC said that everything in my application is complete when I called. I also called UNC and they said I was not chosen in the first review but my file would be reviewed a second time and I might get an interview sometime in january. I am not very hopeful about UNC. I think they were a waste of money.

12/02/03
Here is an update on my status. I have been accepted for entering class of 2004 at UF. Go Gators!
Haven't heard anything from UCSF yet.

great stat.
which state resident are you?
just shadow some dentist and get more experience.
u will get in

hello Enamel,
I sent in my application on sept 8. My number is in the 4100's. They said that they'll mail my application out about 3 weeks. Hope this helps

Thanks vishal_k32801 and toothfairy24 for your help. I hope they will get all of my LORs and transcripts. I emailed them to ask but they didn't reply yet. I am keeping my fingers cross for everything goes well and will be hearing from the schools for interview invitations soon.

Good luck fella applicants!

just want to bring this up
so that people will read it again
and hopefully, more people will submit their stats.

Hey all, I've been lookin around the forums and see many of you have outstanding scores and GPA's, nice work. Its been about 2 months since i sent my stuff to AADSAS and I've heard from some of the schools they've received my stuff, but I'm itching to hear about interviews. How long do you think it will take for me to get any interview invites? It's so hard to be patient right now, I just want to know SOMETHING! Hit me up. peace.
-falcon

falcon,

you shouldn't be impatient already. i sent in my AADSAS on JUNE 1st and got interviews about 2 months ago. i think that with your stats, you will def get many interviews but most likely in the next 2-3 weeks.

when did you take your DAT exam?

i took the DAT on july 16, but then took some time to complete my app.

don't worry dude. you are a fine applicant and your stats are all good.

you should get some good news in 2-3 weeks i am sure.
