For NSU, do we have to have our recommendation letter writers fill out their form, or can I just send the letters with the forms they filled out at my own university? Also, it asks for a DO letter... does anybody know if they will accept a DO letter from a relative (distant, and I've only met him twice, actually). If not, do they accept MD letters? I tried calling the office to ask them, but nobody picked up and it just kept ringing. Thanks. 🙂

I received the NOVA secondary a few days ago and I have decided that their question about which DO and MD schools you have applied to is completely irrelevant. Thus, I might not even submit it.

Also, received interview to TOURO-NV about 3 weeks ago. I was the first one to call back and schedule it for Mon Aug 27th. 🙂

So in this section of the application I have two questions. It only lets you put the month and year a scholarship was received. So if you got the scholarship for all four years of college do you just list it once? Also would you put stuff like dean's list, alpha lamda delta, etc in this section as well?

That's what I did (to both questions). I would put the first time you got it, and explain in the description that it is continuous. I put the dean's list on there.

There wasn't a place for description just name of award, organization, month, and year.... I find it kinda of odd that I couldnt enter any information about it.

For those of you that have finished the NOVA secondary, have you received any sort of confirmation from them? either that they cashed your payment, or an email that they received your application. I think it said that within 2 days a .pdf file would be sent as a confirmation but I haven't gotten anything yet.

All the Touro's are pretty cut throat about pre-secondary screening. I got a letter from all three saying that I was preliminarily rejected based on my first MCAT score (which was below a 23). I had to call them all back and explain that I was retaking in August (this info was on my application also) and convince them to reopen my file and wait on my new MCAT score.

Kicia, you might want to call them and see if there is anything you can do (if you are really interested in the school). Good Luck

i really couldn't care less about TUORO-NV...not very interested in the school so i will let it go.
I am most interested with places like CCOM, DCOM, DMU, ATSU, Nova and WVSOM and i got secondaries from all (except for WVSOM ofcourse...getting a sec would mean i am having an interview LOL...which would be nice though...i am very much interested in rural family med and they have a great program too).

I am patiently waiting...about to shoot myself because my DO still didn't write me the LOR...although i made a request in may🙁.
i already called his office and spoke to his secretary like 3 times...looks like i will have to call again tomorow😎
That one lor is what is holding my apps to be complete at 8 out of 11 places i got secs from...i am still working on UMDNJ, PCOM and AZCOM essays.

and i have no clue what to do with PCOM and their crazy lor thing...i do not have academic advisor, nor a pre-med committee...i guess i will have to ask a dean of my college to write me LOR but it is so wierd...all the profs i have lor from are ppl who know me well (1-4 years) and it would be just simply better if i could turn in their lors isnstead of asking some random person: "hi my name is...yeah write me a lor, here are my grades...i know you don't know me"...eh...this process is so draining:cry:

yeah i feel the same way...i don't even know who my dean is LOL.
It really sucks that some schools have these kinds of requirenments...imagine how screwed someone is if they graduated like 10 years ago from a uni on the west coast and now they live in like NY...it's just such a pain in the neck...i mean what would you do...email your dean? it is kinda rediculous when you think about it🙄 and i really don't understand why they would be so strick with that...but then i know PCOM is a great school so if i have to i will get that LOR.

yeah I asked my dean, who turned out to be a pompous a-hole.... then i just asked my advisor, even though he didn't know me very well he wrote me a little letter. I'm hoping its more of a mere formality... my other, individual lor's are 10x's better

Hmm, I just got an email today saying they received my primary and will let me know within a week of my status.


Just got another email from them saying; "Your application is scheduled to be reviewed by committee. The purpose of committee meeting is to determine whether or not to invite you to submit a Secondary Application and letters of recommendation. Once we have the opportunity to evaluate your application, we will be certain to follow-up with you regarding your status"

I hate this process already!!

But Im not sure about filling it out, and sending 80$. I am complete at alot of schools that Im hoping to get another few interviews. I will wait a couple weeks I think for VCOM.

Got NOVA's a few days ago. Havent heard anything from KCUMB though. A good friend of mine goes to KCUMB and they said that most likely no applicant will hear anything until they get the new class through orientation.

IMO it wont look bad at all. It just wont be reviewed until all your letters come in.

For the first LECOM secondary essay it seems like it asking for exactly what my personal statement describes. Should I just restate it in a different way? Probably by no means should I just copy and paste right?

Im still waiting for accomas to be approved and I havent gotten any secondaries yet from the 8 DO schools i applied to. I plan on pumping out all my secondaries after my 8/9 mcat.

So based on that mcat date if i get my secondaries out asap, I guess my app will begin review 9/9... will that be late?

I didn't include anything in the optional area for DMU. I had nothing to explain that hadn't already been covered in my primary.
I appreciated the VERY short secondary though. 👍 I wish they all were like that. LOL.

I wrote about things not included in my primary app. that would make me a unique applicant. Things like my hobbies and academic achievements and what I can bring to the new class.

Oh - and I included a thank you to the adcom for reviewing my application. a little gratitude can go a long way sometimes 😉

And I also ditto the sentiment on the short secondary 🙂

I don't think anyone's received KCUMB yet - another poster thought it wouldn't be until after they finished orientation with their new class that it would be sent out.

Well I went ahead and took matters in to my own hands and called the admissions office just now.
They are working on a .pdf file so that students can upload the secondary info via a web interface.
SECONDARY APPLICATIONS will be sent out via email by the end of this week (Aug 3rd 2007) or the beginning of next week 8/06/07... this was what Ruth in the Admissions office told me.

i'm so confused...what is the word limit on the UNECOM secondary essays?
also i read the instructions and they say there is one big personal statement and three smaller short answers... but i can't distinguish that on the app. what is the "big" essay and what are the "shorter" short answers.
