hello,

so how is everyone paying for UNECOM's sec?? I wanted to do it over the phone but that isn't happening...these people are never at their desk... I submitted it like last monday... I just should have exressed mailed the payment... I think I will do that tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone else was having these same issues??

Mel🙂

Just put the check in an envelope, put a regular stamp on the outside of the envelope, and put it in the mailbox. It'll get there, and they'll cash it. I promise!

I received the NSU secondary today! I was worried I wasn't going to get it!

For NSU, do we have to have our recommendation letter writers fill out their form, or can I just send the letters with the forms they filled out at my own university? Also, it asks for a DO letter... does anybody know if they will accept a DO letter from a relative (distant, and I've only met him twice, actually). If not, do they accept MD letters? I tried calling the office to ask them, but nobody picked up and it just kept ringing. Thanks. 🙂

BUMP. Im curious about this too.

If you've only met the DO twice, can they write you an adequate recommendation?

I only met with the DO who is writing my recommendation for two separate half days. She did agree to write the lettter and seemed very intent on getting to know everything about me that she could. I have a feeling she wrote a pretty good letter bc she really wants me to keep her informed of my results this cycle. I wouldn't have done it this way except that there are literally two DOs in our phone book, neither of whom would allow people to shadow, and the one I eventually shadowed would only allow up to two half days. I tried to shadow my childhood DO who was excited to let me shadow but a large healthcare company had recently bought them and refused to let me shadow. He was a small town rural doc who made house calls and I was really excited about shadowing him but oh well. This left me with no option but to have a DO I shadowed only two days write my letter. I hope it works out.

I guess in the end, you just have to do what you have to do in order to apply.

:clap::clap: my DO LOR is in finally and all my LORs shipment(via priority 2 day mail) is being processed right now so i am finally good to go. Once those lors get to their destinations i should be soon complete in 11 schools😀 yeay!!! finally the waiting will begin! i am praying to hear about interviews soon:luck:

So i just got my NOVA sec, its pretty much the last one ive been waiting on except for KCUMB. I filled it out and looked all over the place but im not finding anything about a secondary essay. 😕 Is there not one to fill out??? id be thrilled cuz im SO sick of writing them! ALSO.. what are you guys putting for the question that asks how many schools you applied to, should i lie or somthing, is that a trick question??

And finally, someone said TOURO NY was sending interview invites with their sec apps. I got the app in the mail right away.... but no interview invite in it 😎

Sorry i have like 8 thoughts running through here, but the forum set-up is kinda weird, ive been running thru ten pages trying not to repeat stuff other ppl already stated.

yep Nova was like a little extended version of DMU secondary...i would love them all to be like that LOL...they just had few short questions but no essay😀
and i was just honest and put exactly where i applied and what my status at each school was...though i know they have no way of knowing it but either way i think being honest always works the best.

Hey all,

I have submitted quite a few secondaries but my LORs are still pending. Is mid-late August late to have the entire file complete?

I don't think so.

well Ihope it isn't too late... I am in the same boat as you are.... allow me to vent... my *&%$ prehealth office still hasn't typed up the letter and mailed them with my recs... and I can't even be rude about it and tell her to get off her butt and just do it... I have been working so hard to get all of my secs completed in a timely manner... spent all this money mailing them out... and she just keeps telling me next week...next week.... what is she doing...her job is to type and mail... why can't she just get it together... and I have had my stuff all in and I know the letter was written by the end of june!!! AHHH...okay... i am done... now I can't go back to being nice....

Mel🙂

I KNOW! Two of my profs are taking FOREVER. I told them in like April to have it by May! That was eons ago. Wtf!! But not everything in the admissions process will be smooth and the best thing to do is breathe and take things one step at a time..

Breathing! That is what I am forgetting during the process. Haha

hahahah I meant now I CAN go back to being nice...🙂...and you are correct.. I am calmer now... I went back to doing some homework and enjoying the nice weather...🙂 good luck with getting you secs done and completed!!

Anybody else here apply to OSU-COM that was OOS? I applied even though I know they are strict on maintaining 85% in state acceptances. I figured I might be looked at though even for OOS considering my permanent residence is in the far southwest corner of kansas. ( right by OK panhandle). Anybody else take a long shot and apply there?

yeah i so hear you...my friend who is in med school now told me specifically not to use our undergrad pre-health office...imagine that they forgot to send out his LORs and he found out about it in february!!! yes february😡
luckilly he was accepted to one school but with his fantastic stats she should have been accepted to all of them...i guess our pre-med office screwed him up very much...that is why i decided to use interfolio and asked individual professors for LOR...especially that they knew me well.

But my advice is to be just pain in the butt...i was the whole time...i literally emailed everybody like once a week (just be polite and tell them how important it is for you and that you have spend thousands so far and that no school will look at your file without LORs)...one professor even appologized for taking a little longer. Just keep reminding them...i know they forget easy because there is always like tons of other ppl who they write LORs for too.
good luck!

All kidding aside, I checked my bank statement and it said UNECOM had cashed my secondary check (which was sent via snail mail) so you can feel confident sending it that way.

As for the LOR's, my prehealth advisor is great, but my D.O. doc still hasn't written my LOR which is pretty important when you're applying strictly to D.O. schools. So, yes, I & many others are feeling your pain.

My pre-health advisor hasnt written my letter and neither has my DO. Hopefully by the end of the week it will be done since I am planning on sending out the rest of my secndaries this weekend!

I'm applying there and it's my first choice even if it is a long shot. I got that secondary back as fast as possible and I just hope that they give me a chance. I don't know if being from Kansas will help but I'm kind of hoping being from the midwest will help. Maybe they will think there is a higher liklihood of staying in Oklahoma which is definately the case for me. I would love to live there. It seems to be kind of like Nebraska but not quite so cold in the winter.

hiya...

so I sent an email to my pre-health advisor directly and he said... he thinks i am in good shape if all they are waiting for are my LORs and committee packet...the reason they are going to go out next week is because he wont be around for a week to sign the letters...he doesn't think I have to express mail them and that they should get them all by mid august...this is still upsetting to me but I don't know what else to do... I WILL go to his office every day next week to make sure that they are in fact sent out by his secretary...and continue to work on secondaries this weekend....hopefully being complete at all the schools my mid august is good enough...thanks for the advice

Mel🙂

DiverDoc - DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE! Check out your "post" tally. You're sitting at a good number - 7-7-7! I'd not throw any additional posts until after the application process. 😀

Hey all,

If you apply to 2 campuses (e.g. PCOM-Main and PCOM-GA). For both essays (Main and GA), should you write that you applied to the other campus as well? Confused and asking just in case in interviews they know you applied to both...

I did not mention it. I don't think it is that big of a concern.

Anybody heard from KCUMB yet? I've been out of town for nearly a week, so I was just curious about whether I'd missed anything. Thanks 🙂

Here's the latest report:

Well I went ahead and took matters in to my own hands and called the admissions office just now.
They are working on a .pdf file so that students can upload the secondary info via a web interface.
SECONDARY APPLICATIONS will be sent out via email by the end of this week (Aug 3rd 2007) or the beginning of next week 8/06/07... this was what Ruth in the Admissions office told me.

🙂😀🙂

Whewww... I didn't get overlooked!!!!

Hello. Has anyone heard anything from VCOM since submitting their secondary to them?

Yes, I heard back from VCOM today. They send a secondary pending committee review.

I received an e-mail saying that they want to hold my application for candidacy until after my fall coursework. I've never heard of this procedure being done before with apps. Anyone in my boat or with comments about this type of response?

Are you still working on your pre reqs? If so, they may want to be sure that you will be completing them...just a guess.

Hey,
I got the same e-mail. All my pre-reqs are done, I'm just taking classes to boost the GPA. My MCAT was very good, but my GPA is just above 3.0, so I'm guessing they want to see all A's on the post bacc classes so I don't ruin they're average GPA stats.

Is your GPA low? That's probably the main reason they'd put you on hold (stating that your fall course grades are the determining factor), IMO.

i got their secondary few weeks ago and i should be complete there in few days once they get my LORs (which were sent out yesterday via priority mail). Their secondary was very similiar to ATSU-KCOM just a little different essay prompts (more oriented around rural/underserved communities medicine) and they also want all the volunteering/clinical to be verified by a letter which i though was odd but i did request my volunteering coordinator to write them just in case.
:luck::luck:

i finally completed UNECOM secondary:clap:...it ONLY toom me 6 hours:laugh:
now i still need to pay...do you guys know if we can pay with a credit card?

by the way i think UNECOM rocks!!!...would be awsome to get an interview there.... and meet ShyRem in person😀😀

I don't recall seeing a Paypal option on the website. I simply sent in a check and they cashed it when they got it.

UNECOM has a great local reputation. I'm taking a trip to coastal NH this weekend, and am going to visit the campus while I'm there.

LECOM-Erie called me today, my file is complete and was under review I guess but I made a simple mistake on my secondary. ( I put that I was a temporary US citizen) when actually I am a 100% US citizen. Consequently, this did not match my AACOMAS. It was a simple honest mistake but does it "look bad"? Also, since the secondaries are the same, I called Bradenton (got no answer) and finally emailed them to make sure I did the correct thing on their app?.... DO you think itll look bad or even be considered when reviewing my file?:scared:

--note the problem has been corrected. \

Did you call Erie before hand and they were returning your call or do they call all their completed applicants ?

I submitted my application on 7/18 and have yet to hear back from them.

Another side note, anyone here back from PCOM with anything, once again I submitted early July think 7/9.

No, they just called me today, got an email too, saying I was complete and would undergo review. Then I got the phonecall because of the US status problem as previously stated.

DO you think itll look bad or even be considered when reviewing my file-note the problem has been corrected.

They probably get 2000+ applications; people make changes all the time. No one will notice. It could have been an issue if you didn't change it though.

i second that...people make mistakes, especially when you are filling out an application on line with all these bubbles to mark...you might have even just accidently press the down arrow before it went to the next question...i wouldn't worry about it:luck:
i think you should be expecting another interview invite diver!
I am predicting you will be rock&rolling this cycle😀

Touche. Now I have some thick ribeyes to tend to, so I can stop worrying about this.

Wish you both luck at OSU. It was my number one (and only choice) until we moved (my husband just graduated from OSU-COM). Great school and you'd be surprised by the OOS that get in. Alot of candidates apply and don't make the cut off apparently (especially out of state). If you are a competitive applicant I'm pulling for an interview 😀

:luck:

Thanks very much. I'm not really sure if I'm competitive or not but I hope I get an interview. I visited the school last April and I just feel like it is a perfect fit. They have a lot of programs that other schools don't that I would like to participate in. I'm not letting my expectations get too high though bc I know from last year that they don't seem to interview OOS until
November and then almost everyone is either rejected or waitlisted until January. Thanks again and good luck.:luck:
