I was just going to ask the same thing! Although my MCAT score is not released until next week I've heard from every other school I applied to, at least lettin me know they recieved my AACOMAS. What gives?

They have a lot of programs that other schools don't that I would like to participate in. I'm not letting my expectations get too high though bc I know from last year that they don't seem to interview OOS until

I consider your stats competitive, esp with your science background. That is SOOO interesting! I'd love to hear about why "medical school" for you switching from environment sciences ... I would have maybe seen as vet rather than med student 😉
 
Anyone hear from pikeville, umdnj or debusk?

Really...almost 100%. That stinks! I submitted my secondary to them on 7/14 and haven't heard a thing back from them. It's probably because I too am an out-of-stater.

This is not completely true. Since UMDNJ is a state supported school they do heavily favor in-state residents. The entering class stats can be decieving since everybody who matriculates there are considered in-state, even those previously from out of state. From what I have seen UMDNJ may accept up to 50% of there class out of state at the time of interview, but this can be be a little off since the school keeps their admission stats closely guarded. UMDNJ does not begin interviews until September, so we should here something by mid-August I'm assuming. It will be tougher to gain admission from out of state but if you got above average stats than you should have a fair shot!

Hey congrats on the secondary! may i ask how your gpa and mcat scores were? im REALLY interested in UMDNJ and it's one of my top choices, but I'm not sure if my stats qualify....
 
For those of you who received NOVA's secondary? How did you go about filling out the text area under "Interests" Section?

The prompt is: Please specify the extent (offices held, etc.) of your involvement in each of the selected activities..

Is this the same as what is on AACOMAS or a more summarized version?

I used about the same detail but described them a little different

Ditto on DCOM and PCSOM.

Has anyone gotten a financial aid email from NOVA? I got a letter giving me financial aid options and a "thanks for your interest in Nova southeastern. I haven't even gotten a secondary from them yet. 😕
 
I was curious. I just got an email from megan price at VCOM saying my file was on hold pending a committee review of whether I should get a secondary or not. Its wierd because last year I got a secondary right away!!! I am waiting on MCAT scores until the 23rd of august and I was thinking that the MCAT was the problem. I'm kinda getting worried now........

I got that email a week after I submitted my primary, so about 1+ months ago.

Received it via snail mail around 7/9 (was out of the country till 7/17). Submitted 7/19 and my file is complete.
 
WannabeaDoc... did VCOM ever tell you why they put you on hold? I dont think it's academic hold but I'm really worried because VCOM was my first choice and I actually had an interview there and thought I had a decent chance this year. . . I'm freakin out

I got an email from VCOM saying they're holding my app until they get my MCAT scores.
 
I got my NOVA secondary today. Does anyone know if they pre-screen or does everyone get one?

they will all let you know that they have recieved your primary and that you are eligible for a secondary (link to webpage) or they'll mail you a hard copy....

if you want to be "early" then I would fill out the secondaries that are available and send them in as soon as you recieve the email saying you qualify... if you are feeling ballsy you can send them in before you even get comfirmation, like many people did for umdnj.
 
I got an email from LECOM Erie, but I filled out Bradentons as well.

There's actually so many reasons that it is hard for me to formulate a cohesive explanation for "Why medicine?" I know I'm going to have to really focus on preparing myself for interviews with this question. So far on my PS and secondaries, I have focused on a developmental disability that my son had which inspired me to medicine. However, I always wanted to go into medicine but when I found out I was pregnant during my sophomore year of college, I got kind of disheartened about my future and got a handful of C's that year and basically just thought that medical was out of the question for me from that point on. Then at about 27, I decided that I would never be happy unless I went to medical school. I'm not really sure that this has everything to do with my son's issues but more just a drive from within me.

I'm also really interested in my research as it applies to the field of medicine as I am studying endocrine disrupting contaminants and the more I learn about it, the more I really realize how much it is affecting everyone's health and something has to be done about it. Therefore, I'm more interested in the clinical side but also in environmental public health. It is going ot be extraordinarily hard for me to answer "Why medicine?" without sounding too 'researchy' or too 'emotional'! I'm in a pickle!!

Anyway, thanks for asking. I'm sure you didn't want that long of an answer but thanks anyway!

Yes to 2 and 3.

Yes they did have my MCAT results.

I didn't apply to number 1.
 
I have heard from every DO school I applied to now with the exception of WVSOM and NYCOM... my mcat scores were all in and I received secondaries to all of them...

I'm in the same boat as BrianD. I did not apply to Kansas. Touro-NY and PCOM were some of my first secondaries. But then again I was probably in the first batch of primaries. I'm sure you will hear from them soon. If not, contact them. Most schools are usually very responsive to applicants. Good luck!:luck:

it is *required* to be filled, but i dont want that to be a deciding factor for them, can i put i decline to answer?

What is the problem with telling them the number of DO schools you are applying to and the number of MD schools...and as for the status you can just say in progress for all of them..if you decline, they will know for sure you have applied to other schools and for some reason are hiding it, which is a much bigger red flag to me.
 
:scared:evidently VCOM reviews all of the reapplicant files to see if they are worth a new try.... Since I'm a reapplicant I guess I'm in for a long haul there. :scared::scared::scared:🙁
 
Has anyone submitted the LECOM Bradenton secondary before they received the email? I submitted it when I got the LECOM Erie email.
 
I sent out the secondary a long time ago, when it became available on their website. I Just recieved an email from Bradenton inviting me to submit a secondary. Should I call them and make sure that they have my secondary on file?

i did fill them out at the beggining of july. They took my money and all and now I got Brandenton invite in email today😕...man they have quite a mess...it kinda scares me:scared:
I also emailed them to check if they even have my secs on file...but i guess with so many applicants they just get lost sometimes. I remeber reading here that last year someone got 2 rejection letters LOL...so yeah:laugh:

yeah that is exactly what i thought...i emailed them with that question. I will let you know when they get back to me😀

i guess this is not just LECOM...it is basically the mess created by bureaucracy. I can only imagine how it is to keep up with 3K of applicants...but needless to say it did scare me that they send me an invite though i have applied there almost a month ago.
 
I just submitted my VCOM app! One more secondary and then the waiting begins. I just have to work on that UNECOM secondary.

you know what i was scared of that UNECOM secondary but at the end i was very happy with it...i just wrote straight from my heart...it really wasn't that bad once you start on it:luck:

Yeah, I was terrified. LOL, but I was pleased with mine as well. ---That reminds me, I thought my Touro-NV essay was horrible. Definitely not my best essays for my secondaries. Still, it got me an interview. :laugh:
 
I am freaking out right now. I am having major scheduling conflicts at my University and someone is supposed to call me back. (phone is not ringing!!) and I leave for the Caymans today and wont be back until school starts. NOT to mention that I will be away from SDN and email ! :scared:

LOL...they have phones at Caymans, you know...:laugh: you can call them if anything...otherwise you will have a sucky vacation worrying about it all.

I just had a vision of you going back and checking your email and there is like 10 interview invites...LOL...that would be funny:laugh:

Hey Everyone,

How long did you guys wait until you received your secondary application from UMDNJ? My primary was processed about 2 weeks ago...

Does anyone know if there's a GPA/MCAT cut off?
