Took Gen and Organic Chem I & II. My transcript leaves out the numbers. Just has Gen Chem/Lab for 2 semesters and Org Chem for 2 semesters. On AMCAS, should I designate them I and II on course name, or leave it as it is on the transcript?

Also, credit for ACT testing. Like College Algebra. Put it under CLEP credit?

No one?

So i got my EMT certificate from a CC after I got my BA from Loyola and it is listed on CC transcript under the heading Degree/Certificate. DO i have to type this certificate as some type of degree in AMCAS??

Hey! I have been trying to remember what the right word is for a while now... I thought I would try here. It's really simple, but it's escaping me:

What is the correct word for the name of the container that holds the pills of a prescription? For some reason, "bottle" is not sounding correct. Does anyone know?!

For those already verified, is AMCAS making a lot of changes to course classifications this year?

Medicine cup ???😀

My school gave me credit for Rhetoric(Principles of Composition) based on my ACT score. AMCAS corrected the Academic Record to say it was Advanced Placement(AP). OT hours=4.0, OT grade=PS, AMCAS grade=G

I have seen a lot of different places that the first batch of apps go out to schools on the 24th. I am getting worried that I might how get my transcripts verified by then because I am still finishing up the PS. Does anyone know when the second batch goes out? Is it always in groups that they are sent to schools?

Thanks!

After the 24th of June, applications will be sent real time to the medical schools as they are processed.

You don't need to add a degree but you will need to add the school, list the course in the coursework section, and have a transcript sent in from the community college.

I know that I need letters for every school, but aren't those usually sent with the secondary applications? The schools doing the "letter service", is it mandatory?

And I have the research under education, but I want to add that as a research in the activities list.

If you are applying to a medical school that participates in the AMCAS Letters Service the schools require you to have your letters sent to AMCAS and not directly to the school.

If you add schools after submitting, is there any lag time? Would it be most advantageous to submit once you have finished AMCAS and decide where to apply during the time it takes to verify the AMCAS?

Once your application is processed it is sent real time to the medical schools after June 24th. You can add additional medical schools at any time as long as it is before the deadline date. If you add a school after you are processed and after June 24th, the school will receive your application with no lag time.

for schools that participate in the new amcas LOR service, is it required that we upload all our LOR to amcas...or can we IGNORE it and submit with no problem and then have my premed committee send all the letters to the individual schools?

Medical schools that are participating in the AMCAS LOE service require you to submit your letters through AMCAS.

hey all-
my school is officially on the semester system, however, the 2nd semester is "winter" rather than "spring" as AMCAS lists it. Should I instead use quarter, as the seasons on that systen line up with my schools (ie, fall, winter) or stick with semesters despite the fact that 2nd semester at my school is considered the winter semester rather than the spring?

thanks!

Do we need to put down the contact info for each and every item in the application? Is this how AMCAS verifies the data?

Hey all,
For course number on the application should we put "BIO 98" or just "98"??
Thanks in advance!!

I'm in the same boat. I just stuck with the semesters but I think I'll call AMCAS just to make sure. I'll let you know what I find out.

Yep, just called them. Use the semester system, it's the same thing.

It took Chem 1 at a community college and I was given credit for it at my primary college. Do I have to send the community college's transcript to AMCAS?

To be safe, I think the answer is "yes."

It is probably covered in the AMCAS PDF instructions, though. I would read through that fairly carefully...

Yeh, it is. Thanks.

Ok, then one more question about that. If I have a committee packet (letter + LOR from teachers), I only need to fill it out once, right? The name of the main committee member, then add in the names of those in the packet under the "author" area?

1.) Should I put automotive detailing/repair as an activity?
To be honest, I love working on my car in my free time. I enjoy the problem solving and ability to restore function. I share this same liking in medicine. Detailing is very relaxing for me. I enjoy the attention to detail and I am a perfectionist haha. What do you think?

2.) Will UG classes taken after graduating count towards my ugGPA?
I am debating whether to take a graduate course or a couple of upper-level UG science courses.

Many thanks!

How do I check my AMCAS GPA after I have put in all my courses?

You can only see your AMCAS GPA after your application has been verified. After verification, just print a copy of the application and your GPA will show up.

I can't fit all of my abstracts into the character limit. Do you guys suggest just writing a line like "# abstracts presented at national meetings" to my research description, or leave that out all together, and just list the one paper I have separately? Thanks!

When I enter a committee letter into AMCAS, and it asks for "Additional Authors", are these the individual LORs that I have on my committee file? And if so, do I have to list them again? Thanks

Entering the course names, did you use all caps if it was all caps on your transcripts?

Can I list "Gen Chem" even though the transcript says "GEN CHEM"?

Did anyone do this and get verified?

Hey everyone! I have a few questions and would really appreciate some help!

First, I'm not sure about how to correctly enter AP courses.
In the manual, it says to include AP credit courses only once, however, my transcript indicates that credit for the same AP course was applied to different classes at the University. For example, for AP-Psychology, I received 4 credits that went towards an Intro to Psych class, and another 6 credits went towards electives. Similarly, for AP-Eng Lit/Comp, 4 credits went to one English class and another 4 credits went to a different English class. So, how should I enter this information? Split up each AP class into the different classes I received credit for or just enter each AP class once with the total number of credits received?

Should course names that are abbreviated on the transcipt be written out fully on the application or should I write them the exact way they are on the transcript?

Lastly, I'm unsure of the correct way to indicate the year in school. My school uses the quarter system and this is their classification:

Freshman = 00-44 credit hours
Sophomore = 45-80 credit hours
Junior = 90-134 credit hours
Senior = 135+ credit hours

Is this the classification that I should use when entering my course work? I had 30 credits transferred to the University, so, after two quarters of classes I was already a Sophomore by academic standing but it was still only my first year in college...what is the correct way to go about this?

Thank you very much for your help!
Bump. Anyone?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if it matters if you send in your transcript before you actually submit your AMCAS app? thanks alot.

nope, i would recommend sending in your transcript as soon as possible. even if they dont have your application yet, they will have your transcript on file, saving you countless days of waiting for verification when u do send in your app.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if it matters if you send in your transcript before you actually submit your AMCAS app? thanks alot.

Your AMCAS will not be in the line to be verified until all transcripts are received. So it's best to get them in as soon as you can, but you can go ahead and submit your application without them...just won't be verified until they arrive at AMCAS.

Okay, I sent out my transcript on Friday two weeks ago and still nothing. It's been about seven business days already. How long does it usually take for them to verify that it has arrived?

Bump. Anyone?
AP classes--That's a weird one you'll have to hope that AMCAS person comes back or just bite the bullet and call, I don't think you can really go wrong just listing what your transcript lists though.

Course names should look like the do on the transcript if the unabbreviated version is more legible and obviously follows from the abbreviation I would do it, if not just do what's on the transcript.

For yr in school, Personally, I just ignored what the school classified me as at the time (I came in as a sophomore) and just put freshman for my 1st yr, Soph for my 2nd, etc. It's really just for calculating the various GPAs, so that makes the most sense. And AMCAS kept it that way.

thanks for the replies, i should have been more clear, I have actually sent in mine, but have not finished the application yet.

Just wondering, in order for your applications to be sent along with the others on this date, does it have to be verified first? Or can you just submit your application on June 23rd and then it will automatically be sent? Also does anyone have a link showing that this is the actual date for the first batch of applications?

this is kind of related- for schools that do automatic secondaries (like Yale), as soon as you are verified do you get a link to the secondary or do you have to wait until the school receives the application and then sends the link?

thanks for the replies, i should have been more clear, I have actually sent in mine, but have not finished the application yet.

As mentioned above, that is perfectly okay, and you are saving yourself some time in the long run having done that. *pats on the back*. Good luck finishing the App!

For the Work/activities

It's ok if I include awards like scholarship that I received and hobbies like tennis?
The reason I wanna put tennis is because I played varsity tennis in high school and continued to play in college even though I only play recreationally now.

one more thing...do we have to include future classes when entering in coursework?

Okay, I sent out my transcript on Friday two weeks ago and still nothing. It's been about seven business days already. How long does it usually take for them to verify that it has arrived?

took 1 of my schools 7 days, and the other 9 days (business days)

Does anyone know how it works with sending out the primaries? I have heard two things: #1. they are just sent out as soon as they are verified and #2. they are sent out in batches (and the first batch is the 24th - anyone know the second?), and if #2 is correct, I don't understand how people have already gotten secondaries? Thanks!

That sounds like quite a while. I'd have your school go ahead and resend them. Late May doesn't seem like it would be a busy time for them, so they should've received them and put it online pretty quickly.

A few things I had some questions on:

5. Under new activities, I have a question. I am doing a masters (with research), and I just finished my first year. I was working with a professor, but she left, which means I have to start anew with a new professor. Should I mention both under the same activity, or should I separate them into 2? I should mention that I didn't really progress much as far as a project is concerned with the first research.

Thanks!

Bump. Anyone?
