Hey! was it the 31st? If so, i was there too. I'm pretty anxious as well although I'm not really entertaining the thought of an outright acceptance because of how they do things..

Also, for those of you that send update letters or letters of interest/intent...did you get a confirmation from them that they received it? I snail mailed mine to them and emailed a copy but haven't heard back.
 
Who did you send the update to? I sent an update (some new research developments) directly to Lori. If you have any concerns you should contact Katy, her phone # is in the interview packet.
 
This is really premature, but just wondering if anybody (at least on SDN) is interested in starting an intramural basketball team at OHSU (assuming we get in)?

I sent it to Katy and addressed the letter to the Dean of Admissions. Hmm, I will probably call tomorrow then. Thanks!
 
Wow 5 times a week? I'm definitely rusty then by that standard. I used to play college IM ball, but haven't really played since I graduated.

Haha, I only play that much when it's not midterms week (aka this week). Don't worry, I'm not amazing, I just love to play. When did you interview, if you don't mind me asking?

Just a warning, the current MS1s are pretty intense about their basketball, and they would be just dying to take the newbies down. :meanie:
 
Basketball it seems is a great Portland area tradition... what with the Blazers winning and all! I'm sure CRB will agree with me, but I'm up to the challenge. 😀

That game tonight was amazing. I love just about every player on our team and I can't wait for our return to perennial contender status. Go Blazers!

Orientation starts sometime in mid to late august. So classes would start a week or two after that. I heard their orientation is kinda long and drawn out. Hope that helps.

That's nice that she said you'll hear in a few weeks. I sent an update/letter of interest a couple weeks ago, and her response just said it would be put in my file. (Ok, must not convince myself that my less-detailed reponse means I'm not going to get an interview. :scared::xf:)

white coat ceremony is aug20. orientation is before that. classes start the next monday.
 
Does anyone know when they will start letting people know about decisions for those placed in the post-interview hold? And, does anyone what the logistics are of those that are accepted from that hold?

My email says "The Admissions Committee will be discussing applicants through the beginning of May, which means that you will be notified of a final decision regarding your application no later than May 15, 2009. Of course, if at any point prior to that the committee makes a final decision on your application we will notify you immediately." So basically...the usual
 
to those who got interview invites, was it by email only? My secondary application email didn't go into my spam folder, but my complete email DID. I just found it after calling the office and having it re-sent. I was just wondering if you got a phone call as well, cause I don't really look through my spam folder before I delete as the secondary email didn't go there.

My interview invitation was in my spam box for a while before I saw it. 😱 I didn't get any phone calls from OHSU about the inverview invitation so I would recommend checking your spam. :luck: Good luck!

I actually called up Katy to ask about this after I received my hold e-mail and she said you could technically get an acceptance update anytime between now and May 15th. However from what I heard its rare to get an acceptance before May if you are already in the hold pool. My thinking for this is that the next few months will be dedicated to reviewing those that are interviewing between January and April. Once May swings by they'll get a better idea with the make up of the class and they'll accept kids from the hold pool accordingly. But fortunately I heard once May swings by they accept quite a few applicants from the hold pool. Something like 1/3 of hold applicants will get an acceptance and a lot will be placed on the waitlist. I know its tough, but its just a waiting game for the next few months for those of us on hold. Lets all hope for the best!!
 
So I interviewed on 12/31...does anybody know when I should be expecting a decision?

Got an interview invite this morning! Yessss! I was getting worried. Don't give up, those who are still waiting! OHSU is notorious for taking a long time for this whole process. I got the complete e-mail on 12/9, but I had mailed them my materials some time before that.
 
I know! I was getting worried too. yeeesh that is a hard wait.

I turned my application in person on 10/28 and received notice that my file was complete on 12/9, got the interview invite today 2/9

If you're still waiting for the invite- hang in there!

Ditto here! :scared: I was complete on 12/9 as well, but I'm OOS . . . I'm hoping that's why I haven't yet received the invite . . . but I really, really, really want one (if you can hear me OHSU!) :xf:

EDIT: icarus, I didn't realize (until I read the top of the page) that you're waiting for an acceptance not an invite. Good luck with that!!! (and good luck to those in my boat, hoping for that invite! EEK!)

its ok, the waiting and anxiety is something both of us can relate to, good luck! 🙄
 
i'm sorry to hear that brian! well a hold isn't the worst thing right? i think during my interview session they emphasized that the hold did not equal a waitlist and that the majority of interviewees are put on hold, with about the top 15% getting in, bottom 15% getting rejected.

Congratulations!!!! What date/dates to pick from did they give you? I'm hoping they're still in Feb/early March.... :xf:
 
When I called to schedule my interview yesterday the answering machine said that the February spots are already full, so they are now scheduling March only, at least for my group. But I've heard they interview until April, so if that's true there will be quite a few more spots to schedule.

Yup, Reezer's right. Plus I think they interview Tues - Thurs. everyweek, so in March and April alone that's about 24-27 days of interviewing left...

On another note, anybody hear back who interviewed those last couple of days in December? Still waiting to hear back and I'm getting antsy. :scared:

Thank you! They gave me two dates in late Feb and three dates in early March to choose from. By the time they received my voicemail to schedule an appointment, February was all full. Early March might still be an option, but it seems like the days fill quickly.
 
Does OHSU do some sort of CBC...
I interviewed in late december and just got a random CBC today...

For all of my other schools that I have been accepted to, I was accepted before the middle of december...so this is the only school I have not heard from. Do you think this is the case?

no. they don't do a cbc. you'll just get an email when you're accepted or whatever.

Got the e-mail notification of acceptance today! It looks like decisions for Dec. 30/31st ish are being sent out! Good luck everybody! 😀
