High priority is actually better than waitlist. They do look at people on the high priority list first when April comes, and there will be a mixture of acceptance/waitlist/rejection from the list.

For those of you who have received letters, may I ask when you interviewed? I interviewed in early December and I am just trying to figure out if how likely it is that I am in this batch of letters. And I am away from home right now so I can't check my mail!

Is everyone enjoying the waiting game as much as I am? 🙄

Can't believe that I got in so early, considering that so many people who are as qualified as/more qualified than me gets high priority. This thing is really unpredicable. I am still bitter about the high priority thing at MI, where I am in state.
 
So I heard from someone who called the office that the high priority waitlist, is, "it's not a waitlist, it's a category". I would love any insight into what the high priority list is, what it means etc?
 
I just got the high priority letter today(actually UCSF sent me 2 copies of the same letter), and was curious based on the other post if there were any rejections or regular wait list, because if they only interview 500 people how many categories can they create?

We're probably in pretty similar positions. I was complete with the secondary by mid-December and I'm waiting for some news (preferably of the good sort!). Good luck to you as well!
 
I checked and it doesn't seem like anyone has posted about interview invitations recently. I got an invite three weeks ago... I was in the late batch of secondaries...

Secondary Received: 11/14
Secondary Complete: 11/25
Interview Invite: 01/06
Interview Date: 02/10

It seems to be taking them longer now to send out invites post-completion than at the beginning of the cycle. I hope this helps!

did anyone else send thank you notes post-interview? I know UCSF frowns upon contact with your interviewers, but I want to do it out of courtesy. Thanks!

I sent it to the admissions office, but addressed it to the interviewers. Like this:

Dr. Jane Smith
C/o Admissions office
Then rest of address...
 
per nancy in admissions, nothing sent yesterday. maybe today or tomorrow.
 
The admissions office was true to its word. They mailed letters out on January 28th, and I got mine at noon today!!!

My dad called to tell me during my layover in Denver, haha.
My parents only live about 30 minutes away from SF, so there are probably more in the mail!

I'm super excited 😀 I hope more of you get the acceptance letter in the upcoming days!!!

Congrats nevadanteater!

I'm gonna have to go to some 2nd look weekends and see some financial aid packages before I can make this decision... and then there's the non-rolling March decisions...

But UCSF was one of my top choices, so I'm super super super excited today.

I'm in Steamboat Springs, Colorado for a conference right now, so maybe I'll go hang out in the resort's hot tub or something, haha.

I'm just relieved to be able to relax a bit. I really wanted to have the option of staying in the Bay Area, though another part of me really wants to try the East Coast for awhile.

I'm sure more good news will come tomorrow for those who live a little farther from SF.

So, I appealed my rejection and they sent me a secondary. I was complete 1/16. I applied to PRIME and JMP (dream programs for me - I'd rather get into those programs than win the lottery). Does anyone know if PRIME is still interviewing? Now, I know that I have about as much chance of landing an interview with either program as I would winning the lottery... but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Your life experience is amazing. I don't know if there are still open interview slots, but a secondary is better than no secondary😀 Good luck:luck:

when i got my UCSF interview (about a month ago) PRIME said they ran out of in-person interviews and would be scheduling phone interviews in February. I don't know if they interview everyone that applies to PRIME, but perhaps they can now that its via phone? Since this is PRIME's 3rd year, I think they are just trying to figure stuff out still. Also, at my interview there were at least 2 other people who applied to PRIME besides me. Not sure if this is reflective of the total applicant pool. Hope this helps!

It sounds like my chances for PRIME are approaching 0 asymptotically, lol. 🙁 That makes me so sad - that's the community I came from, and the community I want to serve as a doctor. Ah, well. I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat - I just like the direct approach best.

I wouldn't give up hope. They wouldn't have given you a secondary if they didn't think you were worthwhile. One thing UCSF stressed at the interview is that they embrace and seek out diversity in all ways- and you obviously have a lot of it 🙂

:laugh: Yes, indeed - I am all kinds of diverse! And if this process has taught me anything, it's that no one can predict what's going to happen with any degree of certainty, and that I will try, anyway. 😳 🙄

I haven't had a chance to read the thread - were you accepted, ami?

Still nothing for me today and I interviewed in October. So I guess Nancy was right in my particular circumstance. I suppose no news is good news thus far. I am wondering if the fact that I come with baggage may be requiring extra discussion. Can't do anything but wait!

walderness, I forget...is your mailing address out on the east coast? Maybe the letter just hasn't made it that far yet. No news is good news so far.

Or, maybe your interviewers weren't available to discuss you at this months meeting (we were pushed from Dec to Jan, so its possible that you were then pushed to Feb). Or, like you suggested, maybe your application did require some extra discussion.

Anyway, I have my fingers crossed for you. Either way, you definitely have good choices so far 🙂

Got the acceptance today! Totally in shock, honored, and excited. I am a few hours away from SF...so maybe for others, the letter will come soon. GOOD LUCK 🙂
 
Congrats to nevadanteater, SheMarty and dsma0722! After so much screening and waiting, it must be really exciting to get acceptance. Also good luck to those who are still waiting for decisions/interviews. By the way, does anyone know how to send tax forms to collegeboard? Do you have to wait until Feb. or can you do it now?
