MadMnkey, that's awesome! Seems like a good sign to me .. you'll have to post the second you get accepted so the rest of us can celebrate something coming from UMass!!
🙂
And chessodoc, I agree with MadMnkey, I don't think you should look too much into the IS/OOS thing. I am IS but an OOS-er asked on my interview day how that affects admissions and Anne said that because the MD/PhD program is funded by the Commonwealth of MA vs. the NIH, the school can be a little bit more flexible with the number of students it matriculates, but averages about seven per year. On the other hand, OOS students are funded by the school, so they are limited, usually around three per year. I know that sounds terrible initially, but I have heard of several OOS-ers that have withdrawn post-interview and I bet there are many more because at this point most people want to know at the very least which coast they will be on next year (I know there were a lot of apps from CA, especially). So I think if you can hang in there, you definitely have a good shot. They only interview 40 people and I personally know of six people who have withdrawn post-interview because they got sick of waiting. I like to think that it's all just a test -- eventually everyone will withdraw except for those 7-9 dedicated students (like us!
😉) which they will accept ... ahh, wishful thinking.
But seriously, please let us know if either of you hear anything! Good luck!!
